The executive committee of the provincial Party Committee of Binh Duong held its 34th meeting (expanded) to review and provide feedback on the provincial planning scheme for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.

The core region of Binh Duong province comprises the cities of Thu Dau Mot, Tan Uyen, Ben Cat, and Bau Bang district. This core area will serve as the hub of a smart city, driven by scientific and technological advancements, innovation, and the development of a new generation of industrial, urban, and service models. It will be a growth pole and driving force for the province’s development, with a focus on establishing concentrated industrial and information technology parks. This region will also shape the growth of high-quality healthcare, cultural, educational, commercial, and service sectors, while attracting investments in electricity, electronics, chip, and semiconductor industries.

Bau Bang is the only district included in the core region of Binh Duong province.

The “Industrial Capital”

Over the past decade, since its separation from the former Ben Cat district, Bau Bang has undergone a remarkable transformation. From its agricultural roots, it has emerged as a thriving industrial economy. The establishment and development of concentrated industrial parks have been its most notable achievement.

Starting with the existing 1,000-hectare Bau Bang urban industrial park, the district is now expanding with the Bau Bang extended industrial park (1,000 hectares, with 892.2 hectares belonging to the district), Tan Binh industrial park (352.5 hectares, with 95.18 hectares in the district), Cay Truong industrial park (700 hectares), and Lai Hung industrial park (600 hectares). This adds up to a total of 1,687.38 hectares of additional industrial land.

Additionally, the district’s transportation system has been upgraded and expanded, gradually forming an east-west, north-south connectivity that links different regions and areas. This well-connected transportation network facilitates investment attraction and development.

From 2014 to 2023, Bau Bang district attracted 199 new foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of 3.99 billion USD and 1,044 domestic investment projects with a total registered capital of 18,073 billion VND. As a result, the total number of projects in the district has reached 1,463, including 1,214 domestic projects with a total registered capital of 32,535 billion VND and 249 foreign-invested projects with a total registered capital of 4.54 billion USD.

With this cumulative investment, Bau Bang district has attracted more FDI than over 40 provinces and cities across Vietnam, including Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Phuoc, Nam Dinh, Can Tho, and Quang Ngai.

Over the past decade, Bau Bang’s economy has maintained a high growth rate, with an average annual increase of 18.84%. Industrial production value has grown by 4.72 times, from 7,479 billion VND in 2014 to 35,361 billion VND in 2023. The total retail sales of goods and service consumption have also increased by 6.87 times, with an average annual growth rate of 23.88%, rising from 1,437 billion VND in 2014 to 9,878 billion VND in 2023.

Significant Potential for Further Development

Binh Duong province is currently implementing a project to relocate industries from the south to the north. As a result, industrial and urban areas will gradually expand in the northern districts of the province.

Notably, Bau Bang district is strategically located in the northern part of Binh Duong province, 30 km from the provincial capital, 60 km from Ho Chi Minh City, 40-50 km from Dong Nai river port, 80 km from the planned Long Thanh airport, and about 100 km from Cai Mep – Thi Vai port. This advantageous location indicates that Bau Bang has ample room for industrial development as the province pushes forward with its relocation project.

In terms of the scheme’s vision, Binh Duong, and particularly Bau Bang district, will establish a core urban area based on scientific and technological advancements and innovation. This core will be a driving force for the province’s development, focusing on the establishment of concentrated industrial and information technology parks. In parallel, the province will gradually develop high-quality healthcare, cultural, educational, commercial, and service sectors. The core region will attract investments in electricity, electronics, chip, and semiconductor industries.

Becamex Bau Bang Industrial Park

Previously, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuan, CEO of Becamex IDC Corporation, shared that the industrial parks invested by the corporation, including those in Bau Bang district, are being developed according to a new-generation model. In addition to providing comprehensive infrastructure and technical and social services, these industrial parks are enhanced through improved governance and operations to better support investors.

The industrial parks are also becoming smarter, with the application of artificial intelligence, big data, and other technologies, enabling businesses to transition to smart factories and production models to increase labor productivity.

With a sustainable development orientation and a focus on staying ahead of new trends and ecosystems, the expectation is that high-tech investments will play a leading role in transforming current industrial parks into smarter and greener ones, moving towards a science and technology industrial park model.

Vision Towards 2030

According to the People’s Committee of Bau Bang district, the success of the industrial parks has spurred the development of urban, commercial, and service sectors, benefiting local residents in their production and business activities.
