On February 3rd, HURC 1, the operator of Ho Chi Minh City’s first metro line, released information on passenger services during the Lunar New Year peak period in 2025.
According to the report, from January 24th to February 2nd, 2025 (the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 5th day of the first lunar month), the metro line operated 1,768 train trips, serving over 760,000 passengers, with an average of 431 passengers per train. The preliminary revenue for these ten days exceeded VND 11.7 billion.
On average (preliminary calculation), the first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City earned more than VND 1.3 billion per day.

A representative from HURC1 shared that on the busiest day (the second day of the Lunar New Year), they operated 194 train trips, serving over 120,000 passengers. The average number of passengers per train was 620, and the revenue for that day (preliminary calculation) exceeded VND 1.8 billion.
Prior to that, according to reports by Tien Phong, there was a sudden surge in the number of passengers at the Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) station continuously from the second to the fourth day of the Lunar New Year. On the second day of the Lunar New Year, thousands of tourists lined up to buy tickets, patiently waiting for 45-60 minutes but still unable to board the train.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, in addition to Ho Chi Minh City residents, a large number of people from neighboring provinces such as Binh Duong, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria – Vung Tau also chose to take the metro to the city center to enjoy the holiday festivities and visit the flower street.
