In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong’s liberation (May 13, 1955 – May 13, 2025), the port city witnessed a new milestone: the launch of a tourism, entertainment, and culinary chain in the central bay of Cat Ba by Sun Group on May 30. This marks an important transformation, reflecting the determination to elevate the core area of the World Natural Heritage Site into a world-class tourist destination.

The show was created at breakneck speed within just 2 months

Within a year, the central bay area has undergone a remarkable transformation. A modern seaside square, a well-appointed beach, a vibrant ecosystem of restaurants, a night market, and electric transportation have breathed new life into the island gem. Notably, an art and sports performance on the sea, setting two Guinness World Records, has debuted as a symbol of the spirit of distinctive creation and the aspiration to elevate this destination.

Cat Ba’s central bay shines with world-class artistic experiences

Mr. Vu Trong Hieu, Chairman of Cat Ba Town People’s Committee, shared that the locality is determined not to develop in a mass-market direction. This is the core area of a World Heritage Site, boasting unique landscapes, biodiversity, and cultural depth. Thus, a distinct approach is necessary – one that preserves the heritage and entices visitors to return.

The show sets two unprecedented Guinness World Records

On May 30, thousands of spectators witnessed a special moment: the presentation of two Guinness World Records to the show, “The Green Island Symphony.” For the first time in Vietnam, a performance set two world records simultaneously. The show was recognized as the “Largest Jetski Pyromusical Display” and featured the “Most Backflips by a Flyboarder in One Minute.”

The show gathered nearly 40 world-class athletes simultaneously

The Green Island Symphony” was created in a record time of two months, transforming the central bay area of Cat Ba, which had never hosted large-scale performances before, into a stage for an international-level sports and arts spectacle. The infrastructure, including a grandstand with thousands of seats, and multi-layered performance technology in the sea, was simultaneously completed. Nearly 40 top international athletes performed together, surpassing three rigorous rounds of Guinness World Records adjudication to set these two unprecedented records.

Vietnamese audiences experience world-class art in their homeland

This achievement is not only a testament to the organizing prowess but also clearly demonstrates the aspiration to bring the world’s performing arts masterpieces to Vietnamese audiences, allowing them to enjoy international-caliber experiences in their own country.

The image of the crane fairy

The program, produced by world-leading companies H2O Events and LaserVision, was inspired by the legend of the crane fairy and the theory of the Five Elements. It recreated the natural flow using performance technologies such as jetski, flyboard, jetsurf, laser, fireworks, and music. The debut performance attracted thousands of spectators to the central square and Cat Ba beach.

The grandstand was packed during the show’s opening night

A guest from Sydney, Australia, shared, “I thought I was watching a CGI production because the precision and grandeur of each movement were unbelievable.”

The show is currently running 5 nights a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) from 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM and is expected to continue until early September. Ticket prices start at VND 1,000,000, with discounts for combo purchases of 2 or 3 tickets, and show-dinner combos. Especially, booking through the Sun Paradise Land app offers a remarkable 45% discount, bringing the ticket price down to just VND 550,000 – an unprecedented price for an international-level performance.

Synchronized infrastructure – Seamless tourism experience perfected at breakneck speed

Not only is it the venue for the record-breaking show, but the entire central bay area of Cat Ba has also been synchronously invested in to become the new “tourism heart” of the island. Within a year – especially in recent months – green transportation infrastructure, a central square, a night market, and a chain of seaside restaurants have been swiftly completed, offering a seamless tourism experience day and night.

Seaside restaurants serving Sun Kraftbeer craft beer

Right next door, two seaside restaurants, The Forest Beach Club and The Sea Beach Club, cater to guests all day with delicious cuisine, from fresh seafood to grilled dishes, accompanied by Sun Kraftbeer craft beer, making its first appearance in Northern Vietnam. This is a novel space for those who enjoy “great food, fine drinks, and beautiful views” in the heart of the island.

In parallel with the tourism products, on May 30, Sun Group also officially launched a transportation service connecting Phu Long cable car station to the central bay area – the hub of entertainment, cuisine, and major events in Cat Ba. This electric bus and buggy line is part of the green tourism infrastructure strategy, providing convenient and synchronized transportation for visitors while reducing pressure on existing traffic.

Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group’s Board of Directors

The simultaneous launch of numerous products in a single day reflects Sun Group’s aspiration to beautify the regions it operates in by constantly pursuing uniqueness. “We don’t replicate what already exists,” shared Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group’s Board of Directors. “We seek what Vietnam lacks and deserves. We want to bring the finest artistic and culinary experiences to the people of Vietnam, allowing them to indulge in world-class pleasures in their homeland.”
