2025 Toyota Camry: Leading the Pack in Vietnam’s D-Segment Sedan Market
According to the latest report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), the D-segment sedan market witnessed a 15.5% decline in May 2025, with a total of only 256 units sold.
Following an impressive growth month in April, the Toyota Camry’s sales figures for May 2025 showed a slight dip, with 239 units sold, a 9.4% decrease from the previous month. Nonetheless, this D-segment sedan powerhouse maintains its dominant position in the Vietnamese market.
Similarly, the Kia K5 experienced a sales downturn in May 2025, delivering 17 units, a significant 46.8% drop compared to the previous month. With these results, the Kia K5 secures the second position in the segment and finds itself among the slowest-selling models across the entire Vietnamese market.

The Kia K5: Struggling to Keep Pace in the Competitive D-Segment Sedan Market
Notably, the Mazda 6 and Honda Accord faced a disappointing month, with zero sales recorded. This continues a downward trend from their already low sales figures in April 2025, where they sold 4 and 3 units, respectively.
Once prominent players in the D-segment sedan market, the Mazda 6 and Honda Accord are now losing their foothold in Vietnam. Mazda 6’s sales have consistently declined due to the overall weakening demand for D-segment sedans, as consumers increasingly favor SUVs and Crossovers. Additionally, Mazda 6’s outdated design and features compared to its competitors have contributed to its diminishing appeal.
Meanwhile, the Honda Accord faces even greater challenges with only a single model option available at a high price point, significantly limiting its customer base. The lack of technological, convenience, and design advancements further diminishes its attractiveness to Vietnamese consumers.
As we move into June 2025, there are no official discounts offered by Toyota for the Camry. However, to boost sales and clear inventory, some dealerships are providing significant discounts of up to 100 million VND for the 2024 VIN Camry.
On the other hand, THACO, the distributor of Kia K5 in Vietnam, is offering direct discounts ranging from 20 to 30 million VND, depending on the model. The current market price of the Kia K5 varies from 849 million to 957 million VND.
The Big Automotive Sale: Massive Discounts on Select Models, Slashing Prices by the Hundreds of Millions!
The automotive market is experiencing a sluggish sales period, and to counter this, official dealerships are offering hefty discounts of up to hundreds of millions of dong on slow-moving models to clear inventory, especially during this “ghost month” when sales are typically less than ideal.
