During the interrogation session of the Minister of Finance on June 19th, Deputy Ha Sy Dong of Quang Tri Province raised an important question. He asked about the practical basis and specific tasks that would enable entrepreneurs to participate substantively in national governance.
In his response, Minister Nguyen Van Thang acknowledged the significant contributions of entrepreneurs during the country’s renewal and integration process. He highlighted their role in not just leading business development but also in formulating economic strategies, attracting investment, and ensuring social welfare.
According to Mr. Thang, many outstanding entrepreneurs have been trusted and introduced to important positions within the political system and legislative bodies. The government has also actively sought their expertise in projects, proposals, and issues of national significance.

However, the Minister of Finance also pointed out that the proportion of entrepreneurs participating in the political system and legislative bodies remains limited. To address this, Resolution 68 of the Politburo on private sector development emphasizes the need to honor and recognize entrepreneurs and businesses, encouraging those with integrity and vision to participate in governing the country.
Minister Nguyen Van Thang went on to propose three specific solutions to mobilize the wisdom and strength of the entrepreneurial community. First, creating a favorable legal framework and improving the legal system to encourage entrepreneurs to take on advisory and management roles in state administration or run for legislative positions.
Second, maximizing opportunities for dialogue and exchange between the state and businesses, involving entrepreneurs in policy formulation, critique, and implementation. This process has already begun but needs to be expanded and deepened, according to Mr. Thang.
Third, entrepreneurs themselves must uphold business ethics, social responsibility, and compliance with the law. They should proactively enhance their credentials and engage with business representative organizations, meeting the criteria to run for or be nominated for positions within the political system, thereby contributing to the country’s development alongside the state.
