Memorandum of Understanding between PAN Group, AGRI SMILE, and Mitsubishi Research Institute
|
On September 4th, within the framework of the Vietnam-Japan Public-Private Partnership Forum, PAN Group signed a cooperation agreement with AGRI SMILE and the Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI). The agreement focuses on field testing for rice crops to assess the absorption of nutrients and climate resilience of biostimulants developed by AGRI SMILE. The parties will also collaborate on registration and distribution plans for the products in Vietnam.
Biostimulants are biological preparations that help crops absorb nutrients and improve resistance to drought, salinity, and pests. This is considered a potential solution as Vietnam aims to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, moving towards greener agriculture.
With the increasing demand for safe food in Japan, PAN Group has prioritized this market for its exports. In 2024, the Group recorded consolidated revenue of VND 16,182 billion (USD 650 million), including USD 98 million in exports to Japan, accounting for 34% of export revenue. Key export products include seafood, nuts, processed fruits, and confectionery.
In addition to traditional items, PAN and its subsidiary Vinaseed are promoting the entry of Vietnamese rice into the Japanese market. The company believes that the consumption demand for rice in Japan offers new growth potential and underscores the competitiveness of Vietnamese rice brands.
Regarding financial performance, PAN achieved VND 8,147 billion in revenue in the first half of 2025, a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2024. After-tax profit reached VND 458 billion, a 21% rise. The growth was driven by exported tra fish and bottled fish sauce, while plant seeds, cashew nuts, and confectionery segments saw slight increases.
