Counterfeit goods seized by authorities

According to the Domestic Market Management and Development Department, during a recent patrol inspection, the Traffic Police Force No. 9 intercepted a suspicious ISUZU truck with the license plate 30M-221.81. The vehicle was then handed over to the market management authorities for further investigation.

Upon receiving the information, Team 18 of the Market Management Force promptly conducted an examination and issued a decision to inspect the vehicle and its contents. The owner of the vehicle and the goods, Mr. Phung Quang Chien, resides in Tri Lai village, Vat Lai commune, Hanoi.

The inspection revealed that the vehicle was transporting 1,832 products manufactured in a foreign country (China), none of which had invoices or documents proving their legal origin.

The items included: 1,000 DIGITAL handheld rechargeable fans, 600 21V chargers, 72 LITHIUM rechargeable fans, and 160 LI-ION chargers. The total value of the seized goods was estimated at VND 52.56 million. The entire batch of goods has been sealed and confiscated by the authorities for further handling in accordance with regulations.

Based on legal provisions, Team 18 of the Market Management Force intends to impose an administrative fine of VND 25 million on Mr. Phung Quang Chien for trading in smuggled goods. Additionally, they will enforce a remedial measure, requiring the destruction of all confiscated goods due to safety concerns.

The authorities emphasized that this case highlights the ongoing complexity of smuggled goods transportation and trade, which poses risks to consumers’ rights and safety. The Hanoi functional forces reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying inspections and strictly handling violations to restore order and discipline in commercial activities.
