Tre Viet Aviation Joint Stock Company (Bamboo Airways) has announced the venue for its 2025 Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders, scheduled for September 25th at the 37th floor of The West Building, 265 Cau Giay Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi. This location is the former office of Bamboo Airways and was once owned by FLC Group.

This move follows Bamboo Airways’ recent relocation of its tax registration address from Ho Chi Minh City to Zone 4, Nhon Ly – Cat Tien Beach Tourism Area, Quy Nhon Dong Ward, Gia Lai Province, on August 18th. This new address is the site of the FLC Quy Nhon resort, owned by FLC Group.

Bamboo Airways was once the brainchild of Trinh Van Quyet, with ambitions to become Vietnam’s first 5-star airline.

These developments come on the heels of significant leadership changes at the airline: Le Thai Sam has returned as Chairman of the Board of Directors, replacing Pham Ngoc Vinh, while Truong Phuong Thanh assumed the role of CEO on August 13th.

Previously, Mr. Sam served as a Board Member of FLC Group from July 2022. He joined Bamboo Airways in 2022, a period when the airline faced severe challenges following leadership turmoil at FLC. He played a pivotal role in the restructuring process by facilitating a loan of over VND 7,727 billion with no interest or low interest rates and no collateral.

Bamboo Airways was a powerful symbol of Trinh Van Quyet’s vision to establish Vietnam’s first 5-star airline, directly competing with Vietnam Airlines.

Under Mr. Quyet’s leadership, the airline rapidly expanded its fleet and launched long-haul routes to Europe and Australia. At one point, it was even considered to have outpaced Vietnam Airlines in growth rate.

However, following Mr. Quyet’s legal troubles, Bamboo Airways experienced a steep decline. The airline drastically reduced its senior staff, suspended most international routes, and decreased the frequency of many domestic flights.

The number of flights operated plummeted from over 52,000 in 2022 to 38,600 in 2023. Starting in 2024, the airline further discontinued routes to Con Dao, Phu Quoc, Ca Mau, Hue, and Dong Hoi, focusing instead on restructuring efforts.
