On October 30, during General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to the United Kingdom,
Vietjet’s landmark agreement to purchase 100 A321neo aircraft from Airbus was finalized.

Vietjet’s Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, remarked, “This contract transcends commerce; it symbolizes shared trust, ambition, and a vision for sustainable global connectivity.”

Christian Scherer, Airbus Commercial CEO, added, “We’re proud to partner with Vietjet, a dynamic emblem of Vietnam’s rising global stature.”

This multi-billion-dollar deal will generate hundreds of thousands of jobs in the UK and Europe while enabling Vietjet to modernize its fleet, reduce emissions, and expand its international network in pursuit of global Net Zero goals.

Following the signing ceremony at the UK Foreign Office, the official contract handover occurred during the Vietnam-UK High-Level Economic Conference, witnessed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnamese leaders, and Matt Western.

On October 29 (local time), UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer formally welcomed General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese high-level delegation. Subsequent bilateral talks highlighted Vietnam’s dynamic economy and its growing importance as a key UK partner in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific.

General Secretary To Lam praised the UK’s impressive socio-economic achievements, positioning it as the world’s 6th largest economy and a leading global financial hub.

Vietjet’s $32 Billion Boeing Deal

Prior to the Airbus agreement, billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao’s airline made headlines by ordering 200 Boeing aircraft.

On September 21 (local time), during President Luong Cuong’s visit to Seattle, Boeing and Vietjet celebrated the delivery of the first 737-8 aircraft at Boeing’s Seattle facility.

Marking 30 years of normalized US-Vietnam relations, this event underscores the strategic partnership between the nations, boosting trade, investment, and creating hundreds of thousands of US jobs.

With President Luong Cuong in attendance, Vietjet received the first of 200 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, valued at $32 billion.

These new aircraft will enhance Vietjet’s service across vibrant regional markets, elevate passenger experiences, and support the airline’s global expansion and sustainability goals.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao stated, “This historic delivery culminates nearly a decade of Boeing-Vietjet collaboration, launching a new phase of aircraft deliveries. It strengthens US-Vietnam ties, drives bilateral trade, and creates tangible benefits for both economies.”

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed pride in partnering with Vietjet, noting the 737-8 fleet will enable the airline to expand routes across Southeast Asia and solidify its position as a leading new-generation carrier.

Vietjet’s stock (HOSE: VJC) has surged on positive business developments. The company recently announced a 20% stock dividend, issuing 118.3 million new shares valued at over VND 1.183 trillion.

Scheduled for Q4/2025 or Q1/2026, this will increase chartered capital to over VND 7 trillion and consolidated equity to VND 24 trillion, strengthening long-term financial capacity.
