Vinhomes Can Gio: Pioneering Sustainable Land Reclamation with World-Leading Technology

On October 31, 2025, Can Gio Urban Tourism Joint Stock Company signed a contract with the consortium of contractors, represented by Vietnam Marine Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company (MCIC VIETNAM), to implement Japan’s advanced mud reinforcement technology for the Vinhomes Green Paradise project in Can Gio, Ho Chi Minh City.

This cutting-edge construction technology not only sets the global standard for creating robust foundations but also excels in minimizing environmental pollution, meeting the stringent ESG++ criteria of the project.

The K-DPM (Kinetic Dry Pneumatic Mixing) technology, exclusively transferred to MCIC in Vietnam by AOMI Construction Co., Ltd., Japan’s leading engineering conglomerate, is used to reinforce mud foundations and reclaim land from the sea. Pioneered by engineer Akinori Sakamoto, recipient of the international IADC award for dredged mud reclamation, this technology has been applied in numerous world-class projects such as Chubu Airport Port, Nanao Port, Tokyo International Airport, Tokyo Haneda Airport (Japan); Pudong Airport (China); Marina Bay, Changi East Airport (Singapore); and New York Port (USA).

The technology utilizes high-pressure air to mix dredged mud with cement and special additives, transforming waste mud into fill material in a closed, rapid, and precise process. This method can be implemented directly on barges at sea or on land. Within 5 hours, the soft mud layer hardens enough for surface walking, and after 28 days, it achieves 100% hardening, meeting standards for fill material and foundation construction.

K-DPM technology reduces indirect emissions from transportation, minimizes odor pollution, and prevents water leakage into the surrounding environment.

Compared to conventional sand pumping methods, the cost of surface stabilization using K-DPM technology is 5-10 times higher. However, the long-term environmental benefits it brings to the Can Gio sea area are unparalleled.

Specifically, the volume of mud treated on-site is significantly reduced, thereby minimizing indirect emissions from transportation, odor pollution, and water leakage into the environment. This technology also reduces reliance on natural sand, contributing to the greening of the maritime industry and promoting a circular economy in coastal infrastructure development.

Additionally, areas with mud pockets or weak geological foundations can be treated using this technology to enhance stability, increase hardness, prevent subsidence, and avoid erosion.

The K-DPM pneumatic mixing technology has been applied in numerous world-class projects, notably the Port of New York (USA).

In addition to mud reclamation and reinforcement technology, Vinhomes Green Paradise employs advanced sand spraying technology combined with a unique balance of excavation and backfilling principles. Most fill materials are sourced directly from water areas within the planning scope and used to extend the land. This approach optimizes resource use, minimizes offshore extraction, and reduces environmental impact during the land reclamation phase.

To ensure the safety of the sea reclamation project, advanced water control technology is utilized, advised by leading international experts from the Netherlands, a global leader in sea reclamation, water management, and coastal infrastructure development. This ensures long-term sustainability and stability.

The decision to adopt advanced technology, despite its 5-10 times higher cost compared to traditional methods, underscores Vinhomes Green Paradise’s commitment to becoming a leading global ESG++ green, smart, ecological, and regenerative super city.

The commitment to using world-leading, high-cost technology—5-10 times more expensive than traditional methods—to meet stringent environmental protection, conservation, and regeneration standards is a clear testament to Vinhomes Green Paradise’s vision. This project aims to become a leading global ESG++ green, smart, ecological, and regenerative super city.
