On September 25, Mr. Pham Thanh Lam, Director of Ca Mau Airport, announced that Ca Mau Airport will temporarily close from October 30, 2025, to October 31, 2026, to implement expansion and upgrade projects.

Ca Mau Airport will close for one year to execute expansion and upgrade projects.

The expansion and upgrade project of Ca Mau Airport is led by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) with an investment of approximately VND 2,400 billion.

ACV stated that they will instruct contractors to accelerate the progress and shorten the construction time to resume operations at Ca Mau Airport as soon as possible, thereby minimizing the impact on the local economy and society.

The land acquisition, compensation, support, and resettlement project for the expansion and upgrade of Ca Mau Airport will be carried out in Tan Thanh Ward, covering an area of 105.85 hectares. It will affect 601 individuals, households, and 3 organizations.

Ca Mau Airport was previously built to a 3C standard, with a runway 1,500 meters long and 30 meters wide, capable of handling small commercial aircraft such as ATR72 and Embraer E190. The expansion and upgrade project, approved by the Prime Minister in October 2024, aims to accommodate larger aircraft like A320, A321, and equivalents.
