On the morning of September 26, the State Bank of Vietnam, in collaboration with Tien Phong Newspaper and the National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS), held a press conference to introduce the series of activities for Vietnam Card Day 2025, themed “One Touch – A World of Trust.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Director of the Payment Department at the State Bank, emphasized that 2025 marks the fifth consecutive year of the event, with the consistent theme “One Touch – A World of Trust.” This theme not only highlights the advancement of contactless payment technology but also conveys a message of societal trust in a secure and convenient digital ecosystem. A single touch encapsulates the relentless efforts of regulatory bodies, banks, and technology companies.

Mr. Pham Tuan Anh expressed his hope: “With this year’s meaningful theme, ‘One Touch – A World of Trust,’ Vietnam Card Day will continue to create widespread impact, raising community awareness, promoting cashless spending habits, and encouraging the integration of technology into daily life, thereby contributing significantly to the modernization of the economy.”

Over five editions, Vietnam Card Day has become more than an annual event; it is a significant milestone in the journey toward cashless payments and national digital transformation. The event has emerged as a prominent highlight, attracting the attention of a broad audience, particularly the youth.

The leadership of the Payment Department expressed confidence that this year’s Vietnam Card Day will serve as a forum for connection, showcasing innovation and public-private collaboration to shape the future of digital payments.

“I highly appreciate the proactive, creative, and continuous efforts, as well as the effective coordination among the organizing units—Tien Phong Newspaper, NAPAS, and the active participation of banks, payment intermediaries, technology companies, and the widespread support from media agencies nationwide in organizing the event professionally, effectively, and innovatively, making it more accessible to the public,” said Mr. Tuan.

“The event also serves as an opportunity to recognize the achievements in digital transformation and cashless payments within the banking sector, aligning with the goals and tasks outlined in the resolutions of the Politburo regarding the application of science, technology, digital transformation, and administrative procedure reform. It also demonstrates the banking sector’s commitment to developing a digital ecosystem across various industries, aiming to deliver convenient products to citizens and businesses, thereby contributing to the realization of a digital economy and society,” added Mr. Pham Anh Tuan.

Regarding the banking sector, Mr. Tuan noted that 2025 marks the final year of the 2021-2025 National Cashless Payment Development Scheme. After four years of implementation, the scheme has laid a crucial foundation for the sustainable and inclusive growth of digital payments.

Specifically, the average annual growth rate of cashless transactions exceeded 62%. The national payment system has operated stably and seamlessly. By the end of 2024, the proportion of adults with bank accounts reached 86.97%, indicating the rapid expansion of banking services. These results clearly demonstrate the banking sector’s role in fostering a digital ecosystem, aiming to build a digital economy and society.

Moving forward, the banking sector will continue to prioritize digital payments as a key pillar in the national digital transformation process. The State Bank will focus on refining the legal framework, promoting modern payment services such as domestic cards and e-wallets, and strengthening public-private partnerships to ensure a comprehensive, secure, and efficient payment ecosystem.
