According to reports from Tien Phong journalists, social housing projects for low-income earners in Da Nang are now in full swing. Construction is at its peak, addressing the growing demand for affordable housing.
At the An Trung 2 social housing project (Ngo Quyen Street, Son Tra District, Da Nang), construction is progressing rapidly. Two blocks, each over 15 stories high, have completed their structural framework, with work accelerating on schedule.
Previously, in late June 2025, the project sparked controversy as residents lined up overnight, even leading to scuffles, to submit applications for low-income housing. However, as of now, neither the Department of Construction nor the developer, DMC-579 Joint Venture, has released the list of eligible buyers.

Meanwhile, at the low-income housing project in the Dai Dia Bao Resettlement Area (Duong Lam Street, Son Tra District), Block C has reached the 5th floor, transforming the landscape at the intersection of Ho Han Thuong, Pham Huy Thong, and Duong Lam Streets.
Recently, the Da Nang Department of Construction announced that the project is eligible for future home sales, prompting many residents to gather information and prepare their applications for social housing.

Similarly, at the Bau Tram Lakeside eco-urban area on Me Linh Street, a 305-unit social housing project is now open for sale, drawing large crowds of prospective buyers.
Before the application submission period, hundreds of people lined up from early morning to secure their place, highlighting the appeal of these affordably priced units compared to commercial housing and the demand for housing in the city’s northern area.

In addition to ongoing projects, Da Nang has approved several new social housing initiatives to meet the surging demand. Notably, the Ecohome Hoa Hiep project at plots B4-1 and B4-2 on Me Linh Street (in Hai Van and Lien Chieu Wards) has begun construction and is expected to significantly increase housing supply in the coming years.
The city has also approved projects in the Hoa Minh apartment complex (Tran Anh Tong Street), Apartment Block 3 in Nam Cam Le Area B, and is seeking investment for 831 apartments at plot A2-4, located at the intersection of Ngu Hanh Son Street and the Tien Son Bridge approach road, to expand housing options for low-income residents and ensure a balanced distribution of supply.

Recently, in response to illegal brokers and “middlemen” exploiting social housing, the Da Nang People’s Committee has ordered strict inspections and penalties for unauthorized deposit collection or “VIP slot” sales.
The Committee has directed developers to fully disclose project details, including scale, unit count, pricing, and application timelines at least 30 days in advance. Residents are encouraged to use online registration or electronic queuing to reduce crowding and limit opportunities for illegal brokers.
Thousands Apply for Social Housing, but What Are the Alternatives for Those Who Miss Out?
In recent years, several social housing projects (NƠXH) have seen a surge in applications, far exceeding the number of available units. This has left many prospective buyers facing the prospect of missing out after the selection process. However, for those who were unable to secure a home, there is still hope. A wave of new NƠXH projects in Hanoi is set to launch, with applications opening from late 2025 and early 2026, offering another chance to own a social housing unit.
Da Nang Tackles ‘Broker’ Scams in Social Housing Transactions
The Da Nang People’s Committee has mandated a thorough investigation and strict penalties for illegal brokerage activities, including “cò mồi” (property touts), advance booking fees, “guaranteed application success” charges, and the unauthorized sale of “diplomatic slots” for social housing units.
Proposed Allocation of Social Housing Construction Budget for Rental Purposes
City representative Nguyễn Minh Đức has proposed that the city invest in and develop a social housing fund for rent, following the lead of other localities. Additionally, he emphasized the need for solutions to issue land-use right certificates (sổ đỏ) for apartments built in violation of height limits or without proper permits, ensuring the legitimate rights of residents are protected.
