In Q3/2025, the biggest beneficiaries of stock market investments were two familiar names: MHC Joint Stock Company (HOSE: MHC), with profits reaching 162 billion VND, and Danang Housing Development Investment Joint Stock Company (HOSE: NDN), with 82 billion VND. At the beginning of the quarter, the stock portfolio value of both companies exceeded 500 billion VND.
Stock investment is not a common choice for listed companies due to its high risk and price volatility, which can lead to unstable profits. Typically, companies with idle cash prefer term deposits or opt for moderate-risk investments like bonds.
However, during vibrant market periods, the appeal of stocks grows, attracting not only individual investors but also some listed companies.
In Q3 this year, alongside MHC and Danang Housing, other participants in the stock market included Petrosetco (HOSE: PET), Vinh Hoan (HOSE: VHC), Licogi 14 (HNX: L14), and C32 (HOSE: C32).

Notably, after significant stock market gains in Q3/2025, MHC aggressively sold stocks, reducing its investment portfolio by over 80%. Vinh Hoan followed suit, divesting from real estate stocks held since 2021-2022.
The moves by MHC and Vinh Hoan proved effective as the market faced negative volatility in the final quarter. Despite the VN-Index rising 1.1% from October 2025 to November 26, major stocks in MHC‘s portfolio, such as GEX, VIX, and EIB, fell by 13%, 32%, and 15%, respectively. Similarly, DXS, a stock Vinh Hoan divested from, dropped by 16%.
Conversely, Petrosetco significantly increased its stock investments in Q3, exposing itself to higher market risks.
The company’s consolidated financial report did not disclose its stock holdings at the end of the quarter. However, stocks like GEX and VIX, which recently saw sharp declines, were major investments in Petrosetco’s portfolio earlier in the year.
