On January 9, 2024, the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province had a working session with Mr. Jesper Hassellund Mikkelsen – Senior Vice President in charge of production activities at Lego Group in Asia-Pacific and Mr. Preben Elnef – Deputy Chairman cum General Director of Lego Manufacturing Vietnam, along with other members of the delegation.
Mr. Jesper Hassellund Mikkelsen reported that the construction progress of the Lego factory in Binh Duong has been completed on schedule. He mentioned that the provincial leaders and departments have provided favorable conditions throughout the construction period of the factory in VSIP 3.
The Lego factory in Binh Duong will utilize renewable energy, solar energy, and meet international standards for emissions, thus having a positive impact on the environment and ecosystem. The factory is expected to undergo trial operation by the end of 2024 and officially operate in early 2025.
With a total investment capital of approximately 1.36 billion USD into the Lego factory, Lego Manufacturing Vietnam is one of the leading foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises in Binh Duong. The factory aims to recruit 100 local employees by the end of 2023 and increase this number to 500 by the end of 2024.
Representatives of the People’s Committee of Binh Duong Province stated that the province will create favorable conditions and support the Lego Group in expediting the progress, especially in coordinating with central agencies in the acceptance process to ensure the factory can start operations as soon as possible. Moreover, the provincial leadership hopes that with the available clean land fund, Lego Group will continue to study and consider developing the Lego Land project in Binh Duong in the near future.
