“From overtaking Trung Nguyên, Phúc Long, and The Coffee House, to a 200-store fried chicken chain in Vietnam becoming the most popular F&B company of 2023”

2023 marks the second consecutive year that this fast food chain ranked first in the popular F&B service company on social media, and also the year that celebrates the opening of its 200th store in Vietnam.

The online information monitoring platform Reputa recently announced the Ranking of the F&B service industry in 2023 – a year with many fluctuations due to the economic downturn and new regulations for the industry.

According to the ranking, KFC Vietnam for the second consecutive year tops the F&B Company Ranking in terms of popularity on social media, with a total score 1.2 times higher than the second position. (Total score = Sentiment score + Market share discussion score + Interaction score + Spread score).

At the end of 2023, KFC Vietnam opened a new store in Quang Ninh province, marking its 200th location in Vietnam after 26 years of development. Reputa points out that KFC has been continuously implementing promotional programs, monthly minigames, and has successfully gained a large amount of interaction from the online community on its fan page. Besides, the brand has also been continuously updating its menu, combining traditional flavors and trends in Vietnam.

In second place in this ranking is The Coffee House with strong growth, with a total score increasing by 147% compared to the previous year.

According to Reputa, in the first 6 months of 2023, The Coffee House experienced a decline in its total score, but the brand “made a comeback” thanks to seasonal drinks and special promotions. Towards the end of the year, The Coffee House attracted more interaction, especially in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Despite dropping one rank compared to 2022, Phuc Long still made it to the top 3 in the 2023 ranking.

According to a report by Masan, the Phuc Long chain recorded revenue of over 1,535 billion VND in 2023, a decrease of nearly 3%. Similar to The Coffee House, Phuc Long experienced a decline in user discussions on social media at the beginning of 2023. However, in May, after reintroducing “Nhan Lai” and “Vai Sen” to the menu to meet customer demands, Phuc Long made a strong comeback.

The company with the most significant increase in rank is Trung Nguyen, reaching the fourth position, up 4 ranks compared to 2022. Overall, it can be seen that beverage companies dominate the top 10, with 7 names on the list. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the food industry has been growing at an average rate of 6.8% per year since 2015, while the growth rate of the beverage sector has been even faster, reaching 9.7%.

For the F&B Brand Ranking, Chang – Modern Thai Cuisine continues to lead with a total score 2.5 times higher than the second position, which is Cafe Ong Bau.

With a steady brand story about three famous football owners, Bau Duc, Bau Thang, and Bau Hai, at the beginning of 2023, Cafe Ong Bau launched a promotional campaign to celebrate its 3rd anniversary, attracting consumer attention. In mid-2023, the brand continued to open its largest branch in Binh Duong with the special appearance of football star Cong Phuong.

In addition, Reputa also collected data on the most discussed food and beverage category on social media in 2023. According to the data, milk tea has surpassed coffee to become the most popular beverage of the year, thanks to prominent events like the “Roasted Milk Tea” trend and the popularity of the brand Mixue…
