On February 17th, information from the Nghệ An Provincial Police announced that a case had been initiated and a suspect had been arrested and detained for the crime of property robbery. The suspect, Đinh Khương Linh (38 years old, residing in Nghi Liên commune, Vinh City), was arrested.
According to the information, at around 4:30 pm on February 1st, Linh, wearing a gray jacket, a face mask, and a helmet, boldly entered the transaction room of the Vietinbank branch in Thu Thuy ward, Cua Lo town.
Linh used a sharp knife and a suspected explosive device to threaten and intimidate the bank staff to rob money. After successfully robbing VND 46 million (approximately $2,000), Linh quickly fled in the direction of Vinh City.

Upon receiving the report, the leaders of the Nghệ An Provincial Police directed the local police units to investigate and arrest the suspect.
Through investigative measures, on the afternoon of February 3rd, the police forces arrested Đinh Khương Linh when the suspect was hiding near National Highway 1 in Nghi Dien commune, Vinh City, about 15 km away from the crime scene.
During the investigation at the police station, Linh confessed to not having a stable occupation and frequently participating in online gambling, which resulted in losses and debts to many people. In need of money to repay debts for the Lunar New Year, Linh brought a knife to rob the bank.
According to the investigation documents, Linh had previously been convicted twice for the crimes of fraudulently appropriating property and embezzling property through abuse of trust.
