This year, the 10th day of the Lunar New Year falls on Monday, and major gold brands take advantage of the weekend (the 8th and 9th day of the Lunar New Year) to launch a series of events and attractive promotions to attract consumers. As a result, the number of people going to large gold stores has risen dramatically since the 8th day of the Lunar New Year.
On the morning of February 18th (the 9th day of the Lunar New Year), customers lined up in large gold stores.
Some people brought their children to buy gold with their lucky birthday money.
According to VTC News, this morning (the 9th day of the Lunar New Year) in Tran Nhan Tong gold street (Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi), people continued to line up to buy gold at large stores. Based on observations, the number of people coming here is even larger than the same time yesterday morning (the 8th day of the Lunar New Year).
Sitting in line, holding a number ticket to buy gold at Bao Tin Minh Chau on Tran Nhan Tong Street, 32-year-old Truong Trong Trang said that he had been waiting in line for 35 minutes but it was not his turn yet.
“This year, the day of the Wealth God falls on Monday, and I couldn’t take the day off, so I went to buy gold in advance today, the 9th day of the Lunar New Year. I thought it wouldn’t be crowded, but it turns out it’s unbelievably crowded,” said Mr. Trang.
Inside large gold stores, customers are guided to line up or sit and wait for their turn.
Customers waiting for their turn to make transactions are provided with adequate seating.
Additionally, customers are also served tea, cakes, and fruits.
Mr. Trang always goes to buy gold for luck on the day of the Wealth God. In difficult years, he buys less, and in financially stable years, he buys more, treating it as a reserve.
Also waiting to buy gold, Ms. Thu Hang, living in Dong Da (Hanoi), said that every year on the day of the Wealth God, she always goes to buy gold to burn incense with the Tam Sen feast for luck.
“Buying gold at the beginning of the year has become a tradition of my family for a long time. Each of my children gives me their lucky birthday money to buy and keep gold, and if it’s not enough, I will top up the rest so that everyone can buy 0.5 – 1 tael of gold,” Ms. Hang said.
Ms. Hang reveals that she usually buys plain round rings because this type comes in various sizes, from a few grams to several taels. Moreover, the price of round rings is close to the world gold price, so investing in this type will be more beneficial.
The parking lot in front of Bao Tin Minh Chau store (Cau Giay) is full of customers coming to buy.
