Market Pulse 19/02: Tilting towards an Upside

Investor sentiment remains skeptical about the short-term prospects of the market, leading to the continuous fluctuation of key indices around the reference level. However, buyers are still holding the upper hand. As of 10:30 am, the VN-Index has increased by more than 5 points, trading around the 1,215 level. The HNX-Index has decreased by 0.15 points, trading around the 232 level.

The stocks in the VN30 basket have a fairly balanced fluctuation. Specifically, VIC, VHM, VNM, and MSN contribute 2.63 points, 1.41 points, 1.36 points, and 1.29 points, respectively, to the overall index. On the contrary, banking stocks such as ACB, VPB, MBB, HDB, and CTG are facing selling pressure but the decline is not too strong, contributing to a decrease of more than 2 points to the index.

Real estate stocks are performing impressively in the market. Among them, CCL has increased to the limit, VHM has increased by 2.81%, VIC has increased by 5.12%, and VRE has increased by 3.33%… On the other hand, there are still a significant number of stocks that are stagnant or slightly decreasing.

The insurance sector is also attracting attention with BVH increasing by 0.82%, BMI increasing by 2.43%, BIC increasing by 0.69%, PRE increasing by 5.56%, and VNR increasing by 0.42%. The remaining stocks in this sector are MIG, PGI, PTI, and PVI.

Meanwhile, the banking sector is experiencing negative trends with major stocks such as BID decreasing by 0.51%, CTG decreasing by 1.28%, VPB decreasing by 0.76%, and ACB decreasing by 0.18%…

The market breadth leans towards the buying side, with more than 320 stocks increasing, higher than the approximately 300 stocks decreasing.

The total trading volume on all 3 exchanges reached over 519 million units, equivalent to over 11.7 trillion dong. In addition, foreign investors returned to net buying with more than 1.471 trillion dong, focusing mostly on BHI and stocks like VHM, VIC, MSN.

Opening: Plastic-Chemical stocks lead

At the start of the morning session on February 19, as of 9:30 AM, VN-Index recorded positive gains, reaching 1,214 points. HNX-Index also increased slightly, reaching 233 points. Notably, the plastic-chemical manufacturing sector significantly contributed to the index’s increase with a growth rate of 2.5%.

Among them, stocks in the chemical sector started the session with positive momentum and led the good growth in the morning, such as GVR with a strong increase of 4.88%, PHR with an increase of 3.44%, ABS with an increase of 1.52%, LAS with an increase of 5.62%, and SFG with an increase of 5.8%,…

The wholesale sector also made a significant contribution with all stocks in the sector in the green such as PLX increasing by 1.27%, VFG increasing by 3.63%, and PET increasing by 0.59%.

In addition to these two sectors, many Large Cap stocks are also showing positive trends. GVR, VNM, GAS, POW, VRE, MSN, VIC also contribute to the increase in the index.
