On the morning of February 17, 2024, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Van Mai, accompanied by departments and agencies, inspected the progress of the project and visited workers at the construction site of the Circus and Multipurpose Performing Arts Theater in Phu Tho (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City).
The Circus and Multipurpose Performing Arts Theater Construction Project in Phu Tho was approved in October 2019 and started construction on April 25, 2023, with a total investment of nearly VND 1,400 billion. The project consists of 14 floors (2 basement floors and 12 aboveground floors) including auditoriums, stages, rehearsal rooms, training and circus animal care facilities, restaurants… with a capacity of 2,000 seats and a multipurpose training room with 300 seats.
This is one of the 50 key projects of the city to celebrate 50 years of the liberation of the South, the reunification of the country. Therefore, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Van Mai, requested the relevant units to closely follow the progress so that the project can be put into use on time and a first art performance can be organized on April 30, 2025.
According to information on the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee’s electronic news page, Representatives of the Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects of Ho Chi Minh City said that the Construction and Supply of Building Equipment Package, excluding the 2,000-seat stage equipment, is currently being implemented. The main structure of the Circus Theater is currently completing the concrete floor of the basement floors, completing the concrete floors of the 5th floor, concrete columns, and walls from the 5th to the 6th floor. The contractor is currently implementing the installation of the steel structure spanning 52 meters for the 6th, 7th, and 8th floors.
As for the 2,000-seat stage equipment supply and installation package, the representatives of the Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects of Ho Chi Minh City said that the contractor is currently coordinating with the investor to implement the contents according to the signed contract. Currently, the contractor has started the process of ordering essential equipment for the package from foreign manufacturers.

The project’s investor is the Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects. The two largest contracts in the project are the Construction and Supply, Installation of Equipment Package (excluding the 2,000-seat stage equipment) awarded to the consortium of Construction Joint Stock Company No.1 (CC1) and Lu Nguyen Construction Co., Ltd. with a price of VND 1,075 billion and the Supply, Installation of 2,000-seat Stage Equipment Package awarded to the consortium of Nam Thinh Electro-Mechanical Joint Stock Company, Thanh Nien Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, and Thao Nguyen Equipment Co., Ltd. with a price of VND 249 billion.
CC1 is a company specializing in the construction of civil, industrial, infrastructure, and energy projects in Vietnam. This company is a member of VIETUR – a joint venture that won a contract worth over VND 35,000 billion for the Long Thanh Airport project. At the same time, CC1 is also a member of another consortium that won the contract No. 12 “Construction and Installation of Passenger Terminal T3” of the project to construct Terminal T3 – Tan Son Nhat International Airport with a value of over VND 9,034 billion.
In addition, in 2023, CC1 also won contracts for 4 component projects of the East-West North-South Highway Construction project phase 2021 – 2025 with a total contract value of up to VND 19,430 billion, including Can Tho – Hau Giang Expressway (VND 7,966 billion), Hau Giang – Ca Mau Expressway (VND 3,334 billion), Quy Nhon – Chi Thanh Expressway (VND 3,690 billion), Chi Thanh – Van Phong Expressway (VND 4,440 billion)…
Luu Nguyen Construction Co., Ltd. is also a member of a consortium that won a VND 9,000 billion contract for Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
