Since the early morning of February 20, many areas in Nghe An have been experiencing thick fog. In particular, at Vinh airport, the dense fog has affected several flights from taking off or landing.
In an interview with PV, Mr. Nghiem Manh Tuan – Director of Vinh International Airport – stated that due to the thick fog, on the morning of February 20, 7 flights were affected and had to change their landing locations. Specifically, 4 flights scheduled to land at Vinh airport had to divert to Noi Bai airport (Hanoi), and 2 flights had to land at Da Nang airport. In addition, 1 flight from Can Tho city on the morning of February 20 could not land and had to circle in the air for 40 minutes.
Around 10 am on February 20, the fog dissipated and visibility for takeoffs and landings at Vinh airport returned to normal, allowing flights to resume operations and serve passengers.
Not only were arrival flights affected, but on the morning of February 20, 3 departing flights from Vinh airport had to reschedule due to limited visibility for takeoff.
“The fog limited visibility, so some flights had to delay takeoff for safety reasons. Starting from 9:50 am, as the weather improved, flights resumed,” said the management of Vinh International Airport. The fog had been occurring for the past 2 days and had a significant impact on flights at Vinh airport.
Many passengers with flights scheduled for the morning of February 20 had to wait for several hours, causing fatigue and affecting their personal work. However, the majority understood that the flight delays were due to objective reasons related to the weather.
In Ha Tinh, starting from the morning of February 20, the thick fog significantly affected transportation, daily life, and work of the local residents.
