Over 1,000 businesses operate during Tet, export surges

According to the General Department of Customs, during the Lunar New Year holiday (from February 8th to 14th), there were still over 1,000 businesses participating in import-export activities nationwide. This has contributed to the thriving of the commercial activities right from the beginning of the year, with Vietnam having a trade surplus of over 5.1 billion USD.

According to the General Department of Customs, businesses have completed procedures for nearly 10,000 import and export declarations, registered at 116 Customs Departments and equivalent to 32 Provincial Customs Departments.

Thanks to the efforts of businesses, within just 7 days of the Lunar New Year holiday, the total value of goods exports and imports nationwide reached $1.41 billion. Specifically, exports reached $0.73 billion and imports reached $0.68 billion.

Thanks to the efforts of businesses, by mid-February, Vietnam has achieved a trade surplus of over $5.1 billion.

This has helped the total value of goods exports and imports in the country from the beginning of the year until February 14 reach $82.56 billion, an increase of 17.1% compared to the same period last year. Specifically, the value of exports reached nearly $43.83 billion, an increase of 21.6%, and the value of imports reached $38.73 billion, an increase of 12.4%.

Therefore, from the beginning of the year until mid-February, Vietnam achieved a trade surplus of over $5.1 billion.

According to the General Department of Customs, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the main export items of Vietnam include: Mobile phones and components reaching $282.8 million, electronic products and components worth $263.6 million, machinery and equipment worth $54.4 million, etc.

Meanwhile, the main imported items include: Computers, electronic products and components, machinery and equipment, tools and spare parts, petroleum products, etc.

In terms of market, Vietnam’s highest export value is to the United States with $220.7 million, followed by China with $186.9 million, South Korea with $71.2 million, etc.
