Although Android phones can be much more expensive than a regular iPhone, the iPhone is still considered an icon of prestige in today’s era.

But what phones do the truly rich in the tech world use? Which smartphone brands do the top 1% of the world choose? Let’s find out!

Bill Gates: Hardcore fan of the Galaxy Z Fold series

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft with a net worth of $124 billion, is currently using a Galaxy Z Fold5, and previously the Z Fold3 and Z Fold4! It seems that he has remained loyal to Samsung through the “maturing” stages of this foldable phone.

Gates is also a tech enthusiast like most of us, considering his long history with Microsoft and his tumultuous relationship with the late Apple legend, Steve Jobs.

Are we really surprised that a billionaire entrepreneur prefers the unique design and enhanced productivity of the Galaxy Z Fold over the iPhone 15? Probably not.

Bill Gates doesn’t seem to mind the inconvenience of constantly folding and unfolding a slightly bulky phone, as long as it’s equivalent to having a modern, powerful, and tidy tablet in his pocket.

But does Gates use Samsung DeX? Is he fully taking advantage of the unique productivity features of the Z Fold5 or is he simply a fan of its unique design? Either way, a regular iPhone clearly cannot meet his needs, especially considering that Apple has been a relentless rival in his eyes throughout his years at Microsoft.

Mark Zuckerberg: Is the Galaxy S23 Ultra his “true love”?

Mark Zuckerberg, one of the top 4 richest people on the planet, was frequently seen using the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra last year. He may have upgraded to the latest S24 Ultra by now, but the key point here is that – the Facebook billionaire clearly has a special affinity for Samsung’s flagship smartphones rather than Apple’s products.

Unlike Bill Gates, Zuck seems to prefer a traditional phone design rather than elaborate foldable designs, although his phone still has a special feature – the included stylus.

But that may not be the reason he chooses this phone, as the Galaxy S23 in general is already a top-tier Android phone.

It’s likely that the CEO of Meta Platforms (formerly known as Facebook) simply wants to choose the most powerful non-Apple smartphone, and the most logical choice is none other than the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Jeff Bezos: Once hacked via iPhone, but now who knows what he uses?

Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon with a net worth of $190.7 billion, rarely publicly discloses the smartphone he uses. In fact, he has every reason to keep this secret.

Many unreliable sources suggest that he uses a Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy, although it’s likely neither of them.

We know that Bezos used an iPhone in 2020 and unfortunately got hacked via WhatsApp. That event likely convinced him to switch to Android, but perhaps an Android version focused on extreme security installed on a phone that also prioritizes security. The phone may even be specially designed for him, at least in terms of software.

What brand of phone it is, we don’t know, but that’s what’s important – Bezos has every reason to keep it a secret. After all, it’s highly likely to be an Android-based phone.

Elon Musk and Warren Buffett are “outsiders”

Not all the world’s richest billionaires are on the same Android team, and the reasons are enough to make us nod in understanding.

Elon Musk, the big player behind Tesla, SpaceX, and the chairman of X (formerly known as Twitter) with a net worth of $205.2 billion, has occasionally been seen using both an iPhone and a Samsung Galaxy in recent years.

He has mentioned that he prefers the iPhone and seems to be currently using one. Not to mention, there are some crazy rumors circulating that he may release his own “Tesla Pi” phone someday, although it’s clearly baseless and highly unlikely.

Warren Buffett is a legendary investor and businessman, currently owning $133.3 billion at 93 years old.

Considering his age and industry, it’s no wonder he’s not enamored with smartphones like the tech billionaires. The reality is that he used flip phones normally for many years before Tim Cook finally convinced him to switch to iPhones by continuously giving him free ones.

According to the latest information, Buffett is still using an iPhone 11 released in 2019.
