Ho Chi Minh City: 39 Apax Leaders English Centers Not Yet Allowed to Resume Operations

On February 23, information from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City revealed that in February 2024, inspection teams were organized to carry out inspections of various educational institutions. Especially the inspection of the operations of language and computer centers after being licensed.

According to Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of the Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, in February, the department has carried out the task of inspecting and reporting on the operations of elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools under the Mỹ International School Decision by the People’s Committee of the city. At the same time, it directed the district and municipal Departments of Education and Training to coordinate in inspecting and assessing the actual situation of Apax Leader English Centers, and to communicate the decision not to allow educational activities to resume for 39 Apax Leader English Centers (referred to as Apax Leaders) of the English Education Joint Stock Company Apax Branch.

Prior to this, regarding Apax Leaders, the People’s Committee of the city requested the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with relevant units to work with the leaders of Apax Leaders, requesting compliance with commitments, providing solutions to address violations, and taking responsibility for learners, individuals, and related organizations, ensuring compliance with legal regulations. Coordinating with the Department of Planning and Investment, the Tax Department, the Social Insurance Agency, and relevant units to evaluate the conditions for the continued operation of Apax Leaders.

The People’s Committee of the city also requested the Department of Education and Training to consolidate information, provide suggestions for solutions, propose coordination content between departments, sectors, districts, and agencies to completely resolve the incident, develop scenarios, plans to announce the information about the incident to the community, and report to the People’s Committee of the city before February 10. In addition, the People’s Committee of the city also requested the Department of Education and Training to strengthen the management of non-public educational institutions. Implementing propaganda to the public regarding the responsibilities of vigilance and precaution when participating in using services provided by non-public educational institutions.
