Ninh Thuan provides updated information on social housing development land fund

The information about Ninh Thuan not having a planned allocation of social housing land is inaccurate, according to the Provincial People's Committee of Ninh Thuan. They have recommended the Ministry of Construction to review and correct this information to avoid any misleading perceptions in the future.

This morning (27th February), the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province announced that they have sent a letter to the Ministry of Construction to correct information about the social housing development fund in the province.

Previously, the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province received report number 23, dated 5th February 2024 from the Ministry of Construction on the implementation of the project “Investment in the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and workers in industrial zones during the period of 2021-2030”. In which, at point a item 2 of section II, it was mentioned that “there are still a number of localities that have not planned and allocated land for social housing such as Ninh Binh, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Nghe An, Dak Nong, Ninh Thuan, Dong Thap.”

However, after reviewing and cross-referencing related documents, Ninh Thuan has determined that the total floor area of housing in the province by 2030 is about 21,473,240m2 (increasing by about 5,438,471m2); in which the area of social housing is about 183,871m2. Up to now, in the province, 8 apartment and social housing projects have been completed with a total of 1,796 units, basically meeting the needs of the people.

Currently, Ninh Thuan province is carrying out a wide bidding process to select investors to implement a social housing project in the resettlement area of Thanh Hai, with an area of 1.91 hectares and about 1,155 housing units, expected to start construction in 2024.

In addition, there are several projects in the process of implementing related procedures such as the MK Central City social housing project in the New Urban Area of Phu Ha, Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, which has been appraised by the Department of Construction with a floor area of about 5,694m2 with 350 housing units; The social housing project in the Binh Son – Ninh Chu Seaside Urban Area (Zone K2) is in the stage of proposing a dossier with an area of 3.07 hectares, expected to meet the demand for 2,123 housing units…

On October 26, 2023, the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province issued Plan number 4475 to implement the project “Investment in the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income earners and workers in industrial zones during the period of 2021-2030”.

According to the plan, by 2030 in Ninh Thuan province, 6,561 housing units will be completed, concentrated in 10 projects, (including 1 independent social housing project and 9 investment projects in the construction of social housing using 20% of the total area of ​​residential land within the scope of commercial housing investment projects, urban areas dedicated to investment in the construction of social housing) with a total area of ​​over 26 hectares.

Some localities have not planned and allocated land for social housing

In the process of planning, the People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province has strongly directed the allocation of land for the development of social housing in residential projects, urban areas in cities of category 5 and above, as prescribed. As of now, in the province, 18 land areas with a total area of ​​over 67 hectares have been planned for social housing.

Therefore, the information about Ninh Thuan not planning and allocating land for social housing, as mentioned above, is not accurate. The People’s Committee of Ninh Thuan province proposed the Ministry of Construction to consider and correct the information to avoid misleading public opinion in the future.
