The peaceful and serene Thiền Quang Lake, situated between Nguyễn Du, Trần Bình Trọng, and Trần Nhân Tông streets, has long been a charming and pristine destination for people in Hanoi and visitors from all over the world. Recently, the People’s Committee of Hai Bà Trưng District (Hanoi) has sought public opinions on the urban design project for the surrounding area of Thiền Quang Lake. The proposed project includes the construction of 5 squares around the lake, including a central square and 4 seasonal squares named Xuân (Spring), Hạ (Summer), Thu (Autumn), and Đông (Winter).

Around Thiền Quang Lake, the roads are accompanied by wide pavements, lush green trees, and beautiful landscape architecture.

The lakefront area is a place where people and tourists come to enjoy the scenery, exercise, and participate in outdoor activities.

Along Trần Nhân Tông street, there are parking lots for cars and motorcycles, providing convenience for people who want to walk here.

Adjacent to the lake promenade, there is also the Trần Nhân Tông pedestrian zone (from Quang Trung street to Trần Bình Trọng street), Thống Nhất park, and the Youth Cultural House.

The trio of Thiền Quang – Quang Hoa – Pháp Hoa temples creates a peaceful atmosphere for the residents living nearby.

Despite its prime location, Thiền Quang Lake still faces certain deficiencies. Many sidewalk sections have deteriorated and turned into places for locals to conduct commerce.

The shared spaces have been occupied by street vendors selling iced tea and coffee.

The central square is planned to be located along Trần Nhân Tông street, adjacent to Thống Nhất park. It will be a multi-purpose cultural and artistic area, a commercial and trade center, and a resting place for tourists.

The goal of the landscape design project for Thiền Quang Lake area is to create connections between residential areas and cultural-social centers in the area, making use of the open space of Thống Nhất park and the Trần Nhân Tông pedestrian street for weekend events.

Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thơ (Hoàn Kiếm, Hanoi) said: “I hope that the construction of squares at Thiền Quang Lake will make the landscape here more beautiful and well-maintained.”
