Foreign investors net buy over VND 200 billion as VN-Index surpasses 1,250 points, spotlight on “national stocks”

Foreign investors showed strong buying activity on the HOSE, while they were net sellers on the HNX and UPCoM.

The VN-Index continued its strong breakout momentum on February 28th, thanks to support from blue-chip stocks, with VCB contributing more than 8 points to the index’s increase. The market closed at over 17 points to reach 1,254 points, the highest level in over 18 months, since September 2022. Liquidity continued to improve with a trading value of over 21,000 billion VND on HOSE.

Regarding foreign trading, they net bought 202 billion VND across the market.

On HOSE, foreigners net bought with an approximate value of 221 billion VND.

In terms of buying activities, the top net buyers were HPG and SSI with a value of 130 billion VND and 55 billion VND, respectively. This is the second consecutive session that HPG and SSI have been the strongest net buyers on HOSE. In addition, TPB and PVD stocks were also net bought on HOSE with 43 and 38 billion VND, respectively.

On the other hand, EVF suffered the most selling pressure from foreigners with a value of 69 billion VND, followed by CTG and VHC with 37 and 34 billion VND sold, respectively.

On HNX, foreigners net sold 11 billion VND.

In terms of buying activities, IDC was the strongest net buyer with a value of 7 billion VND. NRC was next on the list of strong net buyers on HNX with 6 billion VND. In addition, foreigners also net bought CEO, TIG, and DHT with relatively small values.

On the other hand, SHS experienced the most selling pressure from foreigners with a value of 15 billion VND, followed by MBS with around 9 billion VND sold.

On UPCOM, foreigners net sold 8 billion VND.

In terms of buying activities, foreigners bought ACV stock with 4.5 billion VND. LTG and HPP were also net bought with 1.3 and 0.4 billion VND, respectively.

On the other hand, QNS was sold by foreigners with an approximate value of 5 billion VND. Additionally, they also sold VTP, VEA, BSR, and other stocks.
