According to information from the internal news page of FPT Corporation recently, the Quy Nhon AI Research and Application Center (QAI – FPT Software) has just secured a turnkey contract worth $1.2 million with a leading US provider of residential construction products and materials.
This is FPT’s first million-dollar contract in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), after about 10 months of working with the client (since May 2023).
“Getting an AI project is extremely difficult,” said QAI Director Vu Hong Chien. According to this leader, although AI and data science are developing strongly, there are still few companies that dare to invest heavily in developing AI solutions and applying them practically to production.
Since 2013, when AI was still a relatively new concept in Vietnam, FPT has allocated significant resources to this field. The corporation has been spending 100 billion VND each year on researching and developing AI applications, and in 2021, announced an additional investment of 300 billion VND for this area over the next 5 years.
In 2020, FPT established FPT Smart Cloud – a company specialized in providing AI and cloud computing applications. This was also the year when the corporation decided to build an AI center in Quy Nhon on a scale of about 94 hectares, with a total investment of over 4.362 trillion VND. FPT’s goal is to turn Quy Nhon into the AI hub of Southeast Asia.

Since its establishment in 2020, QAI has gone from projects worth $100,000 to $300,000, $500,000. Now, this figure has been raised to over $1 million.
