China, the United States, Japan, and the European Union continue to be major seafood import markets for Vietnam. Key products such as shrimp, catfish, and tuna have shown significant breakthroughs compared to the same period last year, which is an important driving force for the recovery of the seafood industry this year.

Despite the positive signals earlier this year, seafood exports this year have faced many challenges such as declining purchasing power, high logistics costs due to conflicts in the Red Sea, etc.

Seafood exports increase nearly 30%, positive signals in the early months of the year

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in addition to expanding the market, providing more capital to support the industry is a necessary requirement at present for the industry to recover and grow. Enterprises have been applying many solutions to maintain operations such as cost reduction, seeking more partners, expanding the output market, and strengthening the link from farming, processing to export.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers, said: “We expect that with many subjective and objective factors, there will be positive signs in the market by the middle of the year. In the current context, there are also few orders. The Association is cooperating with the community of enterprises to further promote market activities to support businesses. There will be reports and proposals to the Government, Ministry of Agriculture, and relevant departments to facilitate production and export”.
