According to fishermen in Tinh Ky, around 4 pm, the shrimp fishing boats will start the engine and go about 12-15 nautical miles offshore. On average, after a night, each boat harvests 7-10 tons of shrimp, and some boats catch nearly 20 tons. Fisherman Truong Thanh An (from Tinh Ky commune) said that after a night at sea, he and 5 other crew members caught 8 tons of shrimp. With the current shrimp prices, after deducting expenses, each crew member receives from 3 to 4 million VND. “However, shrimp fishing is very tiring because fishermen have to work overnight, but the high profit compensates for that, so fishermen are very excited,” An said. “Shrimp fishing is going at night and back to sell in the morning. From the twelfth lunar month to now, shrimp have appeared in abundance. This shrimp species moves in schools, so when we catch a shrimp school, we catch a lot.
