Samsung to continue investing an additional $1 billion annually in Vietnam

Mr. Choi Joo Ho said that in 2023, Samsung has additional investment of 1.2 billion USD, bringing the total investment in Vietnam to 22.4 billion USD. Samsung will continue to invest an additional 1 billion USD per year in Vietnam.

2023 was a difficult year, so the export of Samsung Vietnam reached 55.7 billion USD, due to the global economic situation is still difficult while the global mobile phone market is narrowing.

The Samsung Research and Development Center currently has 2,400 engineers working, of which Vietnamese engineers are the “backbone” in researching AI features in the new Galaxy S24 phone line, highly appreciated by Samsung for their capabilities, General Director Choi Joo Ho said.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang shared the difficulties of the Corporation in 2023; appreciated the Vietnamese engineers working at the Samsung Research and Development Center; believes that the S24 phone line will help Samsung increase its revenue in 2024.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Government of Vietnam is always concerned and attaches importance to improving the investment environment, promoting transformation to create favorable conditions for foreign businesses to operate long-term production and business in Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister proposed Samsung, with its experience and capacity, to continue cooperating with NVIDIA; supporting Vietnam to realize the goal of training 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030.

In terms of cooperation with NIC, Samsung Vietnam and NIC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate in the implementation of high-tech development activities for young Vietnamese generations – the ones who will lead the success of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Vietnam in the future.

Regarding human resources training activities, Samsung and the National University of Hanoi have signed a cooperation document with the goal of training about 40 outstanding students of the National University to become future leaders in the semiconductor field within 4 years.

General Director Choi Joo Ho said that Samsung will continue to research possibilities of expanding cooperation with NIC and supporting Vietnam in training human resources in the semiconductor industry; asserting that the development of Vietnam is the development of Samsung and the development of Samsung will contribute to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.
