During the meeting, Chairman of the Bac Lieu provincial People’s Committee, Pham Van Thieu, stated that the incident of a wind turbine blade falling at the Hoa Binh 5 Wind Power Plant on March 1st caused an estimated property damage of around 200 billion VND.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Hoa Binh district People’s Committee, Ho Van Linh, revealed that after the incident, the wind power plant investor temporarily suspended the operation of the wind turbines to ensure safety and conduct a comprehensive review. They also quickly coordinated with relevant agencies to investigate and evaluate the cause of the incident. By March 3rd, the plant had tested 3 turbines again. It is expected that the plant will resume normal operations today. As for the affected turbine, experts are currently assessing the cause.

According to VOV news, at around 5pm on March 1st, an incident occurred at the WT08 wind turbine located in Vinh Moi hamlet, Vinh Thinh commune, Hoa Binh district, involving the falling of the nacelle and blade.

Immediately after the incident, the Hacom Bac Lieu Energy Joint Stock Company urgently contacted and reported to the local authorities and the district police. The leadership of the units then deployed forces to the scene to verify and inspect the incident. Functional agencies determined that the incident did not cause any human casualties.

The Hoa Binh 5 Wind Power Plant (Phase 1) is invested by the Hacom Bac Lieu Energy Joint Stock Company. The project has a capacity of 80 MW, built on an area of ​​nearly 30 hectares with 26 wind turbines, and an average annual exploitation output of 280 million kWh. This is the largest onshore wind power project in the Mekong Delta region in terms of using clean energy for electricity production.

Currently, the company is working closely with the local authorities to promptly overcome the incident and investigate the cause.
