However, some fresh flower shops in Ho Chi Minh City said that the demand for flowers as gifts on March 8th this year has decreased by about 5-10% compared to previous years. Meanwhile, gift baskets with fresh flowers or cake gift sets with various flower-shaped cakes are very popular and many overloaded shops have stopped accepting orders.
Ms. Van Nguyen, the owner of Art Cakes bakery on D5 street, Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City, said that she has just launched 2 new cake types for this occasion with various “hot trend” colors but very affordable prices. These are flower pot cakes combined with chocolate and fragrant butter cookies with a size of 9cm, priced at 140,000 VND/pot and gift box cakes with a size of 12cm, in a round box shape priced at only 350,000 VND.
“Both of these products are selling like hotcakes, some customers order dozens of 140,000 VND cakes at once to give to female employees. Regarding these 2 types of cakes, my shop receives 3 times the normal number of orders. On March 7th and the morning of March 8th, we have to make and deliver a total of 400 different cakes. We are temporarily not accepting new orders because we are overwhelmed,” said Ms. Van.

Ms. Xuan Tham, the owner of an online cake shop, also said that since March 7th, she has stopped taking orders for flower-shaped cakes for March 8th. “There is a strong demand for ordering cake sets with flowers. To ensure the quality of the cakes and delivery time, we have had to turn down many customers,” said Ms. Tham.
According to Ms. Le Thi Thuy Hang, representative of the 4GsTexas sweet bakery chain, for this year’s March 8th, 4GsTrexas has launched a new cake collection “SWEET FOR HER” with many product packages. Among them, cakes with flowers and cherry blossom-shaped cakes range from 150,000 to 470,000 VND, with the highest price of about 1.3 million VND, which has attracted a lot of customers.
“A 10cm cake with a fragrant wax flower is packaged like a gift set with a price of about 470,000 VND, and a tulip-shaped cake ranges from 390,000 to 563,000 VND, the corn flavor is currently overloaded,” said Ms. Hang.

According to observations, instead of searching for new and unique flowers or gifts to give to women, many people are looking to buy gifts that include water, cake, fruit, or flower-shaped cakes, bouquet-like arrangements that are very eye-catching. The prices of these products are reasonable, ranging from 150,000 to 350,000 VND, and they are reusable so many people prefer them.
During this occasion, many food and beverage service establishments are also introducing new products and accompanying promotion programs to attract customers.
