Scheduled start dates for 6 major transportation projects in Ho Chi Minh City revealed, unveiling new ring road routes.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport (DOT) has recently submitted a report to the People's Committee regarding the progress of implementing various projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, Reunification of the country on April 30th, 2025.

According to this, 6 new projects have been started, including the Closed Beltline 2 project, Beltline 4 road, Thủ Thiêm 4 bridge, Cần Giờ bridge, Cần Giờ international transit port, and the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River. Significant transportation projects will be inaugurated on April 30, 2025.

Saigon River pedestrian bridge : The architectural design of the Saigon River pedestrian bridge project has been approved and approved by the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee. It is expected that construction will start on April 30, 2025.

The bridge is built at the midpoint between the Ba Son Bridge and the Saigon River Crossing (District 1 in the area of ​​Bach Dang Park; Thu Duc connects to the Central Square of the New Thu Thiem Urban Area).

The architectural design features the image of coconut leaves – a characteristic image of the South. The project is expected to be a new symbol of Ho Chi Minh City, serving people and tourists when visiting, working.

Closed Beltline 2 project . When completed, the project will connect the main traffic axis of Vo Chi Cong Street with Hanoi Highway, shortening the distance of transporting goods to the ports in the East, Northeast and South of the city (Cat Lai port, Phu Huu port). The project is being budgeted for 4,543 billion VND, of which the investment in construction is about 2,587 billion VND, compensation for land clearance is about 1,956 billion VND.

In terms of progress, the Beltline 2 project – section 3 (from Pham Van Dong Street to the Gò Dưa intersection – National Highway 1, Thu Duc City), the City People’s Committee has approved an adjustment of the completion time of the project in 2026, as a basis for continuing to deploy construction projects.

The Beltline 2 project – section 1 (from Phu Huu Bridge to Hanoi Highway) and Beltline 2 – section 2 (from Binh Thai to Pham Van Dong), the City Council approved the investment policy for the two projects at the 13th session. Currently, the investor is implementing the feasibility study report and coordinating the implementation of land clearance. The project is expected to be completed in 2026.

Beltline 4 project in HCMC . DCM expected to complete the feasibility study report in the first quarter of 2024 and start construction in 2025. The project has a total investment of about 105,000 billion VND, of which the estimated cost of the main route construction is over 47,000 billion VND, when the budget is allocated to participate in about 50% (or can be higher), the amount of capital mobilization is about 25,000 billion VND. The compensation and site clearance may be divided among the provinces and cities implementing it.

Along with that, Thủ Thiêm 2 bridge and Cần Giờ bridge are also scheduled to start construction on April 30, 2025. Building Thủ Thiêm 4 bridge aims to connect the new Thủ Thiêm and new South City. This aims to address traffic congestion, reduce traffic accidents at Cat Lai ferry.

The replacement of Binh Khanh ferry with the Cần Giờ bridge project helps to connect transportation between Cần Giờ island district with the city center and neighboring areas. This will solve traffic congestion, reduce traffic accidents, and meet the need for smooth traffic for the Rừng Sác route.

The Cần Giờ international transit port project is currently collecting opinions from relevant ministries, units on the project document and is expected to complete the submission to the Prime Minister in the first quarter of 2024.
