With 3-4 years of experience, the highest-paid position is Tech Lead, with an average salary of 60 million VND per month, higher than the Project Manager (45 million VND per month) and the IT Manager (38 million VND per month).
In general, positions that require more technical expertise are paid higher salaries. For example, Solution Architect is the highest-paid position with a salary of 63 million VND per month with only 2.5 years of experience, and can receive 125 million VND per month with over 8 years of experience.
Salaries also vary based on the programming languages that employees pursue. Specifically, employees with over 8 years of experience in rare languages like Go, Dart, Ruby can earn salaries ranging from 76.5-85.5 million VND per month, which is almost double the salaries for other languages like SQL, C#, JavaScript, PHP, which range from 35.5-50 million VND per month.

IT fresh graduates receive salaries ranging from 8-15 million VND
According to the 2023 – 2024 Recruitment Market Report from TopCV, excluding director-level positions, the average salary for people working in the IT – software industry in Vietnam currently ranges from 9 to 40 million VND.
Specifically, at the specialist/employee level with 1 to 4 years of experience, IT software professionals have salaries ranging from 9 to 22 million VND per month.
With higher positions like team leader, their salaries can range from 19-33 million VND. If they can reach management or department head positions, IT – software professionals can receive salaries ranging from 22 to 40 million VND per month.
Even for intern positions, people working in the IT industry can receive remuneration ranging from 3-5 million VND per month. Meanwhile, IT fresh graduates (less than 1 year of experience) receive popular salaries ranging from 8-15 million VND.
With 4-6 years of experience, IT – software professionals earn higher salaries of 18-83% compared to other professions such as sales, marketing, advertising, education, insurance, import-export, banking, finance, healthcare, pharmaceuticals…
According to an ITviec survey, waves of lay-offs and company restructuring are the main reasons for IT personnel to quit their jobs, accounting for the highest percentage (30.8%) among personnel with 5-8 years of experience.
