In the latest report by ScamSniffer on cryptocurrency scams in February, there were about 57,000 victims who lost around $47 million due to cryptocurrency scams. This number decreased by over 75% compared to January.
Ethereum network accounted for the majority of attacks/thefts with 78% of the total. The most stolen assets were ERC-20 tokens of the network, accounting for 86%.
The main cause of the attacks/thefts was the signing of fraudulent licenses allowing the attackers to access and take assets such as Permit, Uniswap, etc.
Most victims were lured to fraudulent websites through deceptive comments from impersonated Twitter accounts and the wallet withdrawal scammers all began using the Safe or Abstract wallet as the spending account to approve token codes for fraud.
