Among them, jackfruit trees are currently being harvested with high yields and prices, making gardeners very excited.
At this time, Thai super early jackfruit (type 1) is priced at over 35,000 VND/kg, type 2 is around 30,000 VND/kg, and type 3 is over 20,000 VND/kg. Red flesh jackfruit is priced at over 70,000 VND/kg. According to the jackfruit gardeners, jackfruit trees are easy to grow, have few pests and diseases, have a high tolerance for saltwater intrusion, and can still grow normally with water salinity of close to 1 thousandth.

Tien Giang province has nearly 15,000 hectares of jackfruit trees, concentrated in districts such as Cai Be, Cai Lay, Cai Lay Town, Chau Thanh district, and Tan Phuoc district. The increase in jackfruit prices is due to the rising demand for exports to the Chinese market, while the area for harvesting during the dry season decreases, causing a high demand. With the current price level, the gardens are providing stable harvests, and after one crop, gardeners can earn nearly 300 million VND/ha.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kieu, the jackfruit garden owner in Tam Binh commune, Cai Lay district, said: “These days, I am selling jackfruit at a price of over 30,000 VND/kg, the price is increasing, which is very good. Jackfruit prices fluctuate depending on the yield. Originally, growing jackfruit has low costs, but the income is not as high as durian trees. There is a very large lake here, I store water. If the salty water does not flood in, I can irrigate for a month. Although the jackfruit trees rarely die, if they are exposed to saltwater intrusion, the fruits will not grow large”.
