Planning Electricity Supply for Major Events in Dien Bien

The National Tourism Year and Hoa Ban Festival 2024 opening ceremony on March 16 in Dien Bien Phu city’s 7/5 Square will be a major event, marking the start of a series of events to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

This is an important cultural event with many diverse and rich activities, therefore, the electricity consumption is very high. In order to ensure safe and stable electricity supply for this important event, the Dien Bien Phu City Power Company has cooperated with the event organizers to assess the total electricity consumption and come up with specific plans; in which, focusing on arranging backup diesel generators to meet the load requirements; having a plan to regulate electricity supply accordingly at different times; giving priority to providing electricity to the areas where many activities will take place throughout the festival.

Mr. Tran Van Long, Director of the Dien Bien Phu City Power Company, said that the city power company has proactively implemented all the plans, such as inspecting thermal cameras during the day and at night; preparing the grid lines and electrical cabinets in 7/5 Square and the Tourism Promotion Center (where the main activities of Hoa Ban Festival 2024 will take place), in order to ensure the best electricity supply.

The city power company also proactively coordinated with the event organizers to review the entire capacity to provide detailed plans for each position, in order to ensure safe electricity supply for the events in 2024, with the peak from March to May 7, 2024.

To proactively respond to possible power incidents, the Dien Bien Power Company has directed the Dien Bien Phu City Power Company to mobilize power supply at 4 transformer stations, 6 backup generators, and 4 hydroelectricity areas to supply electricity for all events and activities. Along with that, the Dien Bien Phu City Power Company has arranged human resources, vehicles, and equipment to serve the electricity in the areas where the events take place.

According to the Dien Bien Power Company, the National Tourism Year and the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory events will be at its peak from March 10 to May 7. The duration of the events is long and takes place throughout the province, so continuous and safe electricity supply throughout the event is extremely essential and important. The Dien Bien Power Company has assessed the current status of the power grid, the power supply capacity of the power grid in the province; the load demand for the grand ceremony and the commemorative projects in 2024.

The Dien Bien Power Company has also invested in upgrading the power grid to come up with specific plans for supplying electricity to each activity and event. In which, increasing power capacity, constructing new transmission lines, prioritizing in downtown areas where the main events take place; renovating power lines, renovating the power grid. In addition, the Dien Bien Power Company also has plans to provide electricity in case of incidents to ensure safe power supply.

Mr. Nguyen The Hung, Deputy Director of the Dien Bien Power Company, said that to proactively respond to possible incidents at the venues of the activities, the company has deployed staff and workers ready to handle all situations. When there is a power incident, the units rely on the pre-approved plans and in accordance with each specific situation, cooperate with the shift supervisor to quickly handle the incident. At the same time, report to the power company’s leadership and relevant departments to coordinate measures, find ways to quickly handle and restore the power supply, ensuring the safety of equipment and people.
