Unique Welcome for the Over 50 Billion Bentley: Projecting Images onto the Ground with Over 400,000 Super Tiny Digital Mirrors

The Bentley Batur limited edition project is currently the only luxury car model from the British brand that possesses the impressive capability of projecting animated greetings to users, as shown below.

The Bentley Batur has a starting price of $2.1 million (51.9 billion VND) and is set to launch in 2022 as the most powerful Bentley ever. So far, only 18 of these highly customized cars have been delivered, and the British brand is still teasing the secrets that this project holds.

The latest weapon in Bentley Batur’s arsenal is the greeting light system that activates when users open the doors. Unlike other models that have ground projection lights greeting users with a fixed image, the Batur’s greeting lights create a much more creative and vivid light show.

Batur’s unique ground projection lights

According to Bentley, Batur’s projecting system is completely new. Three colored light sources pass through 5 lenses and 2 different prisms onto an 8 mm square digital mirror. The light signal is then focused on the necessary points to create the desired image on the floor when the door is opened.

The aforementioned mirror is actually a small silicone chip made up of 415,800 super-small mirrors that are only 16 microns wide and made of aluminum, equivalent to 1/5 the width of a human hair. Essentially, these mini mirrors will form individual pixels that, depending on the system control, will reflect light onto the floor or be neutralized to create the necessary image.

This advanced and adaptive ground projection light technology is currently only limited to the Batur. Bentley does not rule out the possibility of integrating this technology into future models, but it may only be available in limited edition or extra-expensive options.

Finally, the brand also mentioned that after metal and wood, light is the next “material” that Bentley is focusing on to enhance the design and personality of their car models. This somewhat vague statement will likely be clarified in their upcoming vehicle models.
