The Bentley Batur has a starting price of $2.1 million (51.9 billion VND) and will be launched in 2022 as the most powerful Bentley ever. Up until now, only 18 of these custom-made cars have been delivered and the British brand continues to tease the secrets that this project holds.

The latest weapon of Bentley Batur is the welcoming light system when users open the door. Unlike other models with ground projection lights that greet users with a static image, Bentley Batur’s welcome lights create a much more creative and vivid light show.

Bentley Batur’s unique ground projection lights

According to Bentley, the Batur’s projection light system is a completely new type. Three colored light sources pass through five different lenses and two different prisms onto an 8mm square digital mirror. The light signals are then focused on the necessary points to create the desired image on the ground when the door is opened.

The aforementioned mirror is actually a small silicone chip made up of 415,800 ultra-small mirrors made of aluminum, measuring only 16 microns wide (1 micron = 1/1000 mm), which is equivalent to 1/5 the width of a human hair. Essentially, these mini mirrors form individual pixels that, depending on the control from the system, will either reflect light onto the ground or be neutralized to create the necessary image.

This advanced and adaptive ground projection light technology is currently limited to the Batur. Bentley does not rule out the possibility of integrating this technology into future models, but perhaps only in limited edition projects or as an extravagant option.

Finally, the company also states that after metal and wood, light is the next “material” that Bentley is focusing on to improve the design and personality of their car models. This somewhat vague statement will likely be clarified in their upcoming product lines.
