According to the Master Plan for the Development of the National Airport and Airport System for the period 2021 – 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister, Gia Binh Airport is included in the list of potential airports and airports.
Gia Binh Airport belongs to the Public Security Air Force Regiment and is located in Xuan Lai commune, Gia Binh district, Bac Ninh province, on an area of 1.25 km2. The photo is a drawing based on the planning map and has a relatively high accuracy.
This will be a level 3 helicopter airport, a level 3 military airport, and a civil airport equivalent to level 3C according to ICAO standards. (ICAO is the International Civil Aviation Organization under the United Nations responsible for drafting and issuing aviation regulations worldwide).
The main task of Gia Binh Airport is to serve the Air Force Regiment of the People’s Public Security to perform training flights, ready for combat on all types of helicopters equipped; reserve for military flight operations and some other civil aviation activities.
In terms of scale, Gia Binh Airport is planned to build a runway with dimensions of 1,500m x 38m, margin 2m x 3m; Planning to build a parallel taxiway with a taxiway system connecting from the runway to the parallel taxiway and the aircraft parking apron. The aircraft parking apron system has a size of 136.5 m x 680 m to ensure two helicopter squadrons according to the People’s Public Security Air Force Regiment.
Along with the flight management and control works arranged in the south of the runway, Gia Binh Airport will have the People’s Public Security Air Force Regiment barracks and a synchronous traffic system.
Gia Binh Airport is capable of ensuring take-off and landing for Mi-8, Mi-171 helicopters; Casa-295 transport aircraft; if necessary, it can ensure take-off and landing for Su-27, Su-30 aircraft in emergency situations.
The area planned for the construction of Gia Binh Airport is mainly rice fields, where people are still farming and using them. The graves have been marked with paint and are waiting to be moved.
If built, Gia Binh Airport in Xuan Lai commune will be about 40 km from Ho Guom Lake and Bac Giang city; only 25 km from Bac Ninh city and Hai Duong city.
Xuan Lai commune is a locality famous for its traditional bamboo and rattan craft. People use bamboo, rattan to make tables, chairs, and many other useful products. In the future, if the airport appears, it will be a highlight, an important milestone for Xuan Lai commune in particular and Bac Ninh province in general.
