As of now, Binh Duong province has 4,255 foreign direct investment projects with a total capital of $40.5 billion and 67,299 domestic enterprises with a total capital of 741 trillion VND.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thi Thu Hoa, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Logistics Research Institute, Binh Duong has a solid foundation of infrastructure and industrial parks and is capable of becoming a logistics center for the region. Additionally, Binh Duong is focusing on developing transportation infrastructure, which would establish the province as a key logistics hub for the area.

However, the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Logistics Research Institute stated that, although the country’s logistics system index has improved and is ranked high compared to other nations, the issue of slow transit times for goods persists. There are still many limitations in tracking goods and delivering orders. Furthermore, the diversification of logistics products and services remains modest, and the application of digital technology, artificial intelligence, and the integration of comprehensive logistics chains has not kept pace with trends.

The industry’s human resources are still new to the field and do not have enough training or experience to meet the demands. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage businesses to enhance their modern, efficient, and professional supply chain management in order to keep pace with the global supply chain.

According to Ms. Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, Director of the World Trade Center Binh Duong, the diversification of logistics services, along with the development of synchronous infrastructure from industry to transportation, is forming a chain of regional logistics services in Binh Duong, with many large-scale logistics centers. Additionally, Binh Duong possesses a river port, warehouses, and facilities for the export and import of goods that are well planned. This demonstrates the significant potential of this industry in the industrial hub of Binh Duong.

Vice Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Danh said that Binh Duong is one of the leading provinces in economic development and urbanization in Vietnam. With its strategic geographic location at the southern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong has significant potential and strengths.

Up to now, Binh Duong has established a chain of regional logistics services with an infrastructure system consisting of 15 large-scale logistics centers, including three inland container depots (ICDs) and one international railway station for import and export of goods; established 10 river ports, 21 warehouses, 19 bonded warehouses, and two CFS warehouses that are currently operating and serving the production activities in industrial parks and clusters, and distributing goods to provinces and cities in the region and for export.

“With its advantages in terms of strategic location, industrial development potential, and synchronous urban, transportation, and industrial park infrastructure, Binh Duong is fully capable of developing into a service, industrial support, and science and technology center for the Southeast region and the southern area.

Among these, the logistics industry has all of the intrinsic potential to become a key, spearhead industry for the province and a driving factor for the socio-economic development of Binh Duong in the future,” The Vice Chairman of Binh Duong province added.

Recently, in a meeting with a Government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Binh Duong, Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Minh proposed to the Government that it plan and invest in the Song Than international intermodal station in Di An city (Binh Duong), which would be the largest freight station in the South and connect with provinces and cities in the Southeast region.

According to the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee, the Song Than international intermodal station is highly significant for the socio-economic development of the Southeast region. Binh Duong plans to increase the scale of this station from 64.6 hectares to approximately 200 hectares, using public land from the recovered expired leasehold of the Song Than Industrial Park.

This plan has been incorporated into the planning of railway lines and stations connecting the region; complete planning for regional connectivity is anticipated. Therefore, the Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee has requested support from the Government, the Ministry of Transport, and other central ministries and agencies so that the province can promptly update and include it in the provincial plan and implement the project in the near future.

This morning (April 16), Binh Duong Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Loi and agencies, departments, and sectors visited and discussed at Song Than station regarding the plan to establish an international intermodal station at Song Than.

According to calculations, to organize international intermodal operations, Song Than intermodal station requires a bonded warehouse area of over 10,000 m2, while the current area is only about 8,500 m2.

On behalf of the Vietnam Railway Authority, it was proposed that Binh Duong province arrange and allocate adjacent clear land to invest in expanding the international intermodal station.
