At 0:30 AM on April 18th, Nha Nam’s fanpage unexpectedly published an article by Mr. Nguyen Nhat Anh, Director of Nha Nam Culture and Communication Joint Stock Company, regarding the information that he had harassed a female employee in the company.
Mr. Nguyen Nhat Anh’s apology was met with a strong backlash from the online community.
Mr. Nguyen Nhat Anh wrote:
“I am Nguyen Nhat Anh, Director of Nha Nam Culture and Communication Joint Stock Company. Recently, there have been many rumors about what happened in the course of my work with a female employee in the company, which made me feel it was time to speak up to those who are interested.
I have had some actions expressing my care and affection for her. These actions did not go beyond the ethical boundaries between people and were in a specific context. But what I did not anticipate was that I had unintentionally caused embarrassment, annoyance, and possibly harm to her. I only found out about it recently. I sent a sincere apology to her on March 31, 2024.
Today, I would also like to apologize to my colleagues, friends, close partners, and readers who love Nha Nam books for being disturbed by many false rumors on the Internet about the above story. Finally, I still believe in the positivity of everything that has happened. I consider this a lesson for me to improve myself.”
Although it was posted at midnight, the apology posted on Nha Nam’s fanpage immediately attracted special attention from followers, reaching nearly 6,000 interactions, 2,300 comments, and over 1,000 shares after only half an hour.
The online community expressed their dissatisfaction with this move by Mr. Nhat Anh, as he spoke up and posted an explanation at a rather late hour, and the apology was not clear enough. This reaction led the fanpage to lock the comment feature on the post.
Recently, rumors that Mr. Nguyen Nhat Anh had harassed a female employee in the company were spread by many on social media.
On April 15th, author Dang Hoang Giang announced he was ceasing cooperation with Nha Nam after 9 years of partnership, leading many to believe that this was related to the incident.
On his personal page, Dr. Dang Hoang Giang said he would not share the specific reason for ending the cooperation “to ensure legal accuracy,” asserting that the decision to discontinue cooperation was not due to any disagreements regarding finances or the quality of book production and distribution.
Below Dr. Dang Hoang Giang’s post, the Nha Nam verified account commented: “Nha Nam confirms the termination of cooperation with author Dang Hoang Giang from April 15, 2024. While we have different perspectives from Mr. Dang Hoang Giang on certain situations, we respect this decision. Thank you for your cooperation and wish you success in your future projects.”
