The Hoai Duc District, Hanoi, Vietnam, Section of the Roadway Interchange at the Intersections of Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard has a total investment value over 2,450 billion VND and is being implemented by the Hanoi Urban Works Construction Investment Project Management Board. The project is projected for completion in 2026.

The project includes an underpass in the direction of Ring Road 3.5 (formerly Le Trong Tan Road, now Hoang Tung Road) and National Highway 32, with a total length of 975 m and a width of 18.5 m. The underpass includes four reinforced concrete overpasses with a total length of over 2,300 m, a width of 8.8 m, and reinforced concrete retaining walls extending over 600 m.

The underpass will have four motor vehicle lanes, with a total length of 975 m and a width of 18.5 m. Within this, the section that passes beneath Thang Long Boulevard has a 150 m covered tunnel design, and the portion on the sides of Hoang Tung and National Highway 32 each have a 157.5 m open tunnel design, with a 220 m retaining wall.

The underpass’s technical infrastructure will include a traffic lighting system, drainage system on bridges and at the ends of bridges. The roadway within the scope of the interchange will have a synchronized drainage system, green space, and utility trenches. The interchange will implement a signaling system, traffic lights, and road markings to manage traffic.

The point where Ring Road 3.5 intersects Thang Long Boulevard (the area where the underpass will be constructed) has not yet been cleared for construction. It currently hosts workshops and stores that sell machinery, automobiles, etc.

The area where the interchange is being built is currently an unpaved road. The construction site is deserted, with no workers present.

Numerous major projects are located near the interchange between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard. Vinhomes Smart City and Geleximco Urban Area are two notable examples. Notably, this interchange is situated close to Lumi Hanoi, the project that will deliver the largest housing supply to the Hanoi market in 2024.

Vườn Cam, An Lạc Green Symphony, and Splendora An Khánh are among the many significant developments now underway on the Ring Road 3.5 side. When this interchange is finished, traveling between the urban areas on either side of Thang Long Boulevard will be much easier. Furthermore, travel between Ha Dong and Nhon will become more convenient.

The Ring Road 3.5 section from Thang Long Boulevard to National Highway 32, which has a total length of 5.6 km and a value of over 1,000 billion VND, broke ground in October 2017. This is a significant transportation infrastructure project for the capital city, and it was expected to be finished by the end of 2021. However, after seven years of construction, several sections are still unfinished due to delays in excavating and relocating the Vuon Chuoi site.

Additionally, the portion of the road from the southern axis to Thang Long Boulevard (Hoang Tung Road, formerly known as Le Trong Tan Road) has a length of about 8.7 km and a width of 60 m and was started in 2019. It is now more than 80% complete, and the final phases are being rushed.

Upon completion, the interchange between Ring Road 3.5 and Thang Long Boulevard is expected to reduce traffic congestion and gridlock; ease the pressure on Ring Roads 3 and 4. Ring Road 3.5 is a link between the north and south of the Red River, passing through multiple districts and towns, including Thanh Tri District, Ha Dong District, Hoai Duc District, Bac Tu Liem District, and Me Linh District…
