Tomorrow, April 26, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People’s Committee of Dak Lak Province will co-host, the Trade Promotion Agency and the Department of Industry and Trade of Dak Lak Province will coordinate to organize the Trade Promotion Conference and develop import and export in the Tay Nguyen region.

The conference will focus on exchanging issues including: Cooperation, linking chains in production to enhance the value of export products in the Tay Nguyen region; Linking the Tay Nguyen region in trade promotion and import and export activities on a professional scale; Results of some trade promotion activities on social networking platforms and e-commerce floors; Status quo, opportunities, challenges and solutions for developing import, export and trade promotion in 2024 and the following years for the Tay Nguyen region.

The Tay Nguyen region is evaluated to have many advantages in economic development and international economic integration.

Tay Nguyen includes: Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong, which is a particularly important strategic area, the “fence of the Western Fatherland”, the “roof of the Indochina Peninsula” in the Lao – Vietnam – Cambodia development triangle; with climate, soil and many valuable resources and minerals. The Central Highlands is also an area with great potential for developing the forest economy, processing agricultural and forestry products, and exploiting and processing minerals.

Therefore, the Central Highlands is considered a region with many advantages in developing its economy and integrating into the international economy, thanks to the characteristics of its cultural, ethnic, ecosystem, natural resource, human resource and geo-political economic position.

These characteristics make the Central Highlands different from other localities across the country, creating favorable conditions for exploiting competitive economic strengths, but at the same time it is a challenge in the process of connecting and linking the Central Highlands region with other economic regions across the country.

Over the years, the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and many other ministries and sectors have focused on prioritizing resources to help the Central Highlands exploit its specific advantages, but so far the economic development of the Central Highlands still lags behind many other regions in the country.

Localities in the region have not yet had close coordination and combined strength to develop a sustainable economy for the long term. The linkage between businesses and producers still faces many difficulties and inadequacies, and has not achieved harmony of interests.

In addition, the region’s trade promotion and export-import development activities are still fragmented and small-scale. Researching, grasping market information, requirements and conditions in the process of producing and exporting products is still limited. It remains difficult to implement digital transformation for some contents in trade promotion and e-commerce activities, and many businesses in the region have not yet really paid attention to digital transformation in trade promotion activities.

This situation requires a change in thinking, perception, and approach in exploiting the specific advantages of the Central Highlands region, finding solutions for truly effective regional connectivity to help the Central Highlands region can fully发挥 its potential and strengths, turning potential into driving force, potential and great resources.

Trade Promotion activities help the Tay Nguyen region to maximize its potential and strengths of the region.

On the sidelines of the conference, there will be an exhibition, introduction, and promotion of products of suppliers of goods and services inside and outside the Tay Nguyen region with export enterprises and trade promotion organizations. In addition, the Trade Promotion Agency also coordinates with a number of commercial affairs offices, branches of commercial affairs offices, and Vietnamese trade promotion offices abroad to organize online business connections between production and trading enterprises of vegetables, tubers, fruits, coffee, and processed foods… inside and outside the Central Highlands region with nearly 30 importers from major export markets of Vietnam such as: the Philippines, China, USA, Hong Kong…
