On April 29, Tan Son Nhat International Airport announced that it expected to handle 594 departing and arriving flights on that day, with an approximate total of 90,000 passengers.
Of these, there were over 47,000 departing passengers and over 42,000 arriving passengers. Notably, this number is surprisingly low, even lower than the number of passengers on normal days. For example, on April 25 (the previous Thursday), Tan Son Nhat Airport welcomed 657 departing and arriving flights with a total of 98,000 passengers.
Observations at Tan Son Nhat Airport today showed that many areas in the domestic terminal and the check-in counters of the airlines were quite deserted. Today is the third day of the five-day April 30 holiday.

Previously, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Corporation had announced that during the peak period from April 26 to May 1, the airport would handle a total of 4,280 domestic and international flights. On average, the airport would serve approximately 720 flights per day.
Regarding airfares, a quick survey this morning showed that flight tickets between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are still quite plentiful, but the prices are very high.
Some “escape the heat” routes such as Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc still have tickets available for today, but the prices are also sky-high, around 4 million VND/round trip.

Meanwhile, many people from Ho Chi Minh City also decided to go on a “last-minute” trip. Mr. Hoang Trung (residing in Thu Duc City) said that this morning, around 8:30 am, he started driving from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan.
“I arrived at the Mui Ne beach area around 11 am, less than 2.5 hours. The expressways from Ho Chi Minh City to here are clear. The weather in Ho Chi Minh City is hot, so my family decided to go “escape the heat” and go to the beach at the last minute,” said Trung.
