During the first 3 days of the April 30 – May 1st holiday, the number of visitors to Nàng Tiên Waterfall (Chiềng Khoa commune, Vân Hồ district, Sơn La province, 25km from the center of Mộc Châu town) increased dramatically. The road to the tourist area was almost blocked for a kilometer.
According to a representative of the Nàng Tiên Waterfall Tourist Area Management Board, this destination normally welcomes 400 – 600 visitors per day, and on weekends the number of visitors nearly doubles.
“This past weekend, which coincided with the holiday, there were a lot of visitors. Each day, the tourist area welcomed more than 2,000 visitors to sightsee and experience the area”, a representative of the management board said. On April 29, although there were no official statistics, the number of visitors continued to increase. As a result, the income of hundreds of motorbike taxi drivers who transport visitors from the foot of the waterfall to the parking lots increased dozens of times compared to normal days.
Local motorbike taxi driver Lò Văn Thắng said that the distance from the foot of the waterfall to the parking lots is only about 1km, but because the road is steep, each trip costs 25,000 VND.
“On normal days, I can only make 20 trips at most. But today (April 28), I made 130 trips by myself, earning more than 3.2 million VND. This is the year with the highest number of visitors to Nàng Tiên Waterfall since the tourist area opened”, said Mr. Thang.
Nàng Tiên Waterfall – a pristine destination 25km from the center of Mộc Châu town – opened to the public in 2020 The waterfall has 3 levels, each with its own unique beauty. The first level is gentle, with a pool of water that is about waist-deep on adults, where visitors can swim.
To reach the second level of the waterfall, visitors must climb against the current, which is a bit difficult, but the reward is a view of the waterfall cascading into a turquoise pool.
The depth of the pool on the second and third levels is quite large, and the rock surface is covered with moss, making it easy to slip and fall, so visitors must be extremely careful when moving around. The estimated height from the foot of the waterfall to the third level is about 150m.
Nàng Tiên is a beautiful waterfall, but it is not well-known and still poses potential dangers, especially the area at the foot of the waterfall, where there are often whirlpools and hidden crevices. One of the safest places to swim is the small stream just at the entrance to the waterfall.
Currently, the destination has several shelters built by the management board for visitors to rest, organize BBQ parties, eat, and build campfires.
Not only Nàng Tiên Waterfall, many other tourist destinations in Sơn La also attracted a large number of visitors during the April 30 and May 1 holidays. In particular, Mộc Châu district welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to sightsee and relax, a 45% increase compared to the same period last year.
Bản Áng Pine Forest, Dải Yếm Waterfall, Happy Land, the walking street, Mộc Châu night market, Mộc Châu Island, the heart-shaped tea hill, Nà Ka plum valley, Mu Náu plum valley, Sơn Mộc Hương cave, Ôn village’s five caves, the 52nd Tây Tiến Regiment memorial area, etc. are destinations that attract tens of thousands of visitors.
