On April 30, it was recorded that in some localities in the Mekong Delta, the price of durian fluctuated from 55,000-75,000 VND/kg, a decrease of about 10,000 VND/kg compared to 2 weeks ago and a drop of about 55,000-60,000 VND/kg compared to early March.

The price of durian in the Mekong Delta has decreased significantly compared to early March
Mr. Nguyen Van Trung, Director of the Chanh An Durian Cooperative (Mang Thit District, Vinh Long Province), said that the price of durian is decreasing compared to before. Currently, traders are purchasing durian from gardens at around 60,000-70,000 VND/kg for the Ri6 variety.
“This year, the intense heat has caused the leaves to burn, the fruits are not beautiful, and the yield has decreased. The increase or decrease in the price of durian is due to market规律. Durian here is not contracted by any enterprise, it is mainly sold through traders. However, with a selling price of 60,000 VND/kg, farmers still earn a profit of 60-100 million VND/con (1,000 m2)” – said Mr. Trung.
Mr. Tran Thien Thanh, Deputy Director of the Truong Phat Durian Cooperative (Can Tho City), said that traders are purchasing durian from members at a price of 62,000-63,000 VND/kg. “The price of durian has decreased because the Mekong Delta is in the peak harvest season. However, with the above selling price, farmers still have a profit of 500-600 million VND/ha. The cooperative has about 200 tons left and has been purchased by traders” – Mr. Thanh informed.

Even though the price has decreased, farmers still make a profit of about 500 million VND/ha of durian
“Because the durian is harvested after 90 days, I posted on social media pages to find someone to come and cut it. I am selling in bulk in the garden for only 58,000 VND/kg, hoping that traders will come to purchase” – said Mr. Thang.
