Recently, in Volume 2 of the Official Gazette No. 433 group B, April 2024, published by the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office, a completely new electric motorcycle model was registered for industrial design by Selex Intelligent Electric Vehicle Joint Stock Company (Selex Motors).
Unlike the “pickup” electric motorcycles used for transportation such as Camel, this new product has a more convenient scooter appearance and will target ordinary users instead of transportation businesses.
Accordingly, Selex Motors’ new electric motorcycle has a modern design style with square lines, and the overall design is quite similar to the Honda SH scooter.
The front of the vehicle is designed to be elongated, the integrated headlight and turn signal cluster is located horizontally, along with a pair of polygonal rearview mirrors. At the back is a minimalist taillight cluster. The motorbike is equipped with 5-spoke alloy wheels, and a disc brake system is equipped for both the front and rear wheels. Selex Motors’ new electric motorcycle is equipped with a rectangular LCD digital display.
Selex Motors has yet to announce more information about this electric vehicle, however, with the registration of design copyright with the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office, it is likely that the Vietnamese automaker will put into production and launch this new electric vehicle model in the near future.
If manufactured and launched into the market, users will have more choices besides the VinFast Klara, Vento, Yedea Odora S1, or Pega Aura S models.
Selex Motors is known not only as a brand but also as an electric vehicle ecosystem that aims for the future of smart and sustainable transportation by two mechanical doctors from the University of Michigan (USA) – Nguyen Huu Phuoc Nguyen, Nguyen Trong Hai, and IoT software engineer – Nguyen Dinh Quang.
Selex Motors is a Vietnamese startup company founded in 2018, but only officially launched its first commercial product named Camel in late November 2022. In August 2023, it continued to introduce the new Selex Camel 2 model, and also announced a refrigerated cargo transportation solution by motorbike that is compatible with both Selex Camel 1 and Camel 2.
Selex Camel and Selex Camel 2 are also electric motorbike models with superior load capacity, capable of carrying a weight of up to 225 kg, which is something that few electric two-wheelers can do.
As introduced by the manufacturer, the optimization and innovation of products in the Selex Motors smart electric vehicle ecosystem will help customers save up to 35% on fuel costs per month, 50% on maintenance costs, and 99% on refueling time.
Dr. Nguyen Huu Phuoc Nguyen shared about Selex Motors’ vision on Cong Thuong newspaper: “In the near future, it is electric motorbikes, the future of Selex Motors could be electric cars, electric buses… We aspire to become a leading technology corporation that pioneers in providing a sustainable transportation ecosystem for cities not only in Vietnam but also reaching out to other countries in the region”.
