How Much FDI Capital Did Real Estate Attract in the First Four Months of the Year?

For the first four months of the year, registered FDI capital for real estate business reached 1.67 billion USD, almost 4 times higher than the same period last year and accounting for more than 20% of total registered capital.

According to the socio-economic report of April and the first four months of the year by the General Statistics Office, as of April 20, 2024, the total foreign direct investment (FDI) registered in Vietnam reached nearly 9.27 billion USD, up 4.5% over the same period last year.

Newly registered capital has 966 projects licensed with registered capital reaching 7.1 billion USD, an increase of nearly 29% over the same period in the number of projects and an increase of over 73% in registered capital. In particular, real estate business activities ranked second at 1.6 billion USD, four times higher than the same period and accounting for 23% of the total newly registered capital.

According to the General Statistics Office, there were 345 licensed projects from previous years registering for capital adjustment, increasing by 1.2 billion USD, down 26% over the same period.

If counting both newly registered and adjusted capital, the FDI registered in real estate business activities reached 1.67 billion USD, nearly four times higher than the same period and accounting for more than 20% of the total newly registered capital and increased; the processing and manufacturing industry reached over 6 billion USD, accounting for 72%.

Regarding FDI realized in Vietnam, the last 4 months are estimated to reach 6.3 billion USD, an increase of more than 7% over the same period last year. This is the highest realized FDI in the first 4 months of the year in the past 5 years. In particular, real estate business activities reached 608 million USD, double the same period and accounting for 9.7% of the total foreign direct investment realized.

In the first four months of the year, Singapore was the largest investor with 2.6 billion USD, accounting for 36% of the total newly registered capital; followed by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) with nearly 899 million USD, accounting for 13%; Japan with more than 814 million USD, accounting for 11%; China with more than 740 million USD, accounting for 10%; Turkey with more than 730 million USD, accounting for 10%; Taiwan with more than 512 million USD, accounting for 7%.
